help finding 'rustic' rental in Kauai

Looking for a vacation rental for family, we usually just camp but mom%26#39;s pregnant again, so we%26#39;d like something with a bed (or 2). We%26#39;d like something close to nature. We%26#39;ll be in the area Feb 15-25.

Aloha!

We were looking for a similar sort of situation. We narrowed it down to these three:

Ended up staying at Taro Patch Hale and were very happy with it. Certainly not for everyone, but if you%26#39;re used to camping, it%26#39;d suit you fine. It%26#39;s two miles up the Hanalei valley within the national Wildlife Preserve.

if you want to head out to the west side there are the waimea plantation cottages which replicate the old plantation style homes....concrete floors, screens, no a/c, metal roofs....you have to contact them for rates....about 6 years ago i booked a cottage for my friends and it was about $85 a night...it%26#39;s right by the water but it%26#39;s black sand beach and the water isn%26#39;t exactly pretty....

there are also cabins in the mountains in kokee...these are very rustic...and rent for about $40 a night. it gets pretty cold at night and these are very old family owned cabins so they only have the basics. you have to call for availability...check out this site for more info:

If you%26#39;re willing to shell out the money....there are a few great vacation rentals on the north/east side right by the water....

See my post today (1/28) about ';other lodging options'; with lists of cottages and houses, etc.

Hey Bellman3... we are looking at Taro Patch Hale for a stay in May...would you mind giving a little more information...

Which cottage did you stay in?

Do the cottages have a ';private feel';...are they spaced out well?

The description says the bathrooms are in an outdoor garden setting...are they outside, and if so, was that OK?

Was there a grill outside for cooking out?

We like simple, quite settings with nice views to come home to after

being out all day...Does this place fit the bill??

Thanks again for any information...Ed
