Best Island to relax, snorkel, hike for a younger couple

We are not looking for night life... more into local color but have been looking at renting a camper van on BI or Maui. Leaning towards Maui so we can hit Molokai for a couple of days but waffling b/w that and a week on the BI. Will be in HI for 7 full days, really enjoy great scenery, sunrises, sunsets, hiking and hoping to get some great snorkling in. Crowded beaches and night life not our thing, really looking to relax and enjoy the great outdoors down south. ..just soak in Hawaii. Any thoughts?

You are looking at two opposite island vibes. Maui and Oahu are more alike and the BI and Kauai are more alike. I would chose between the BI and Kauai if what you are really wanting is relaxation, snorkeling, hiking and outdoor activities. For snorkeling, the BI for sure. Maui is more crowded beaches and more night life in certain places although you can find crowded beaches on any island.

It sounds like you made you way to Alaska via our neighoring state Wisconsin.

If relaxing and lack of crowds are what you are looking for, then maybe Lana%26#39;i is for you. Although the Four Seasons resorts are very pricey, the Hotel Lana%26#39;i and the B%26amp;B%26#39;s in town are very resaonable. I agree with Bips, it sounds like BI or Kauai would be a good fit for you. BI has the best snorkeling because we are such a new island and the waters are so clear. Both Kauai and BI will offer wonderful hikes and nature. Maui might be too busy for what you are looking for.

Thanks for all your advice...we did indeed migrate from WI. We%26#39;ll be back with many more questions after we pick a destination. Snorkeling is pretty high on our list of things we want to do and we are going to down there Feb 6-14. Thanks again - you are all very helpful.
