I remember the ABC stores, but are there any stores that offer a better deal or selection when it comes to buying gifts?
Best place to purchase gifts for mainland friends
The best place that I know of is the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. I believe that the swap meet is on Wed, Sat and Sun. Not sure about the Sunday, but for sure on Sat. There are tons of vendors and last time we were there they took up the first three parking rows around the stadium. I would recommend there instead of ABC stores You can take The Bus to get there. Great buys

While there are plenty of places with more selection than an ABC Store, you will be hard-pressed to find much cheaper prices. They buy in their items in huge quantities and generally have them priced very competitively, especially T-shirts, towels and knick-knacks.
If you want a better selection, I would recommend:
Hilo Hatties...the ultimate in Hawaiiana kitsch. They have free shuttles from Waikiki.
International Marketplace...the traditional favorite. Located in the heart of Waikiki across from the Outrigger Waikiki.
Aloha Stadium Swap Meet...about a 20 minute drive from Waikiki (more during rush hour). Competitive prices, some unique items.
Aloha Tower Marketplace...on the waterfront in Downtown. Beautiful center, great places to eat and drink, and a wide selection of Hawaiian items and souveniers...although things are a little pricier.
Either the Aloha Sawp meet or the ABC stores. Very reasonable!!!!!!
If you want fancier (more expensive) type souveniers, there are a few nice shops along Kalakaua Ave. on the strip/section that fronts the beach, heading up from Queen Kapiolani park.
If you want just fun Hawaii-motif stuff, the ABC Stores are the way to go.
As everyone stated, the swap meet is a GREAT place to buy souvenirs!! Nobody beats their prices and their selection of things. Most people just buy their souvenirs from the ABC stores or the Interntanional Market Place because they%26#39;re the most convenient if you%26#39;re staying in Waikiki. 2 other great places to buy souvenirs are Walmart and K-Mart. Great prices too! Hilo Hattie has some really nice things too, but a LOT more expenisve!
';Hilo Hatties...the ultimate in Hawaiiana kitsch. They have free shuttles from Waikiki.';
Hilo Hattie%26#39;s is planning to open up a store in Waikiki at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center (I think).
I remember reading (a couple years ago) that they were planning to open a store in Waikiki %26amp; maybe shutting down retail operations in the Nimitz store %26amp; using that location for their headquarters.
I presume there would be no need for a free shuttle then.
Anyone have any other news on this?
I bought all my gifts at ABC because it was convienent and cheap. I guess it all depends on what kind of gifts you plan on bringing back home. We didn%26#39;t go to Hilo Hatties while in Hawaii since there%26#39;s one in the Block in Orange.
ABC store will box your purchases for travel AND deliver them to your hotel room!!!
The swap meet is good for silver jewelry %26amp; t-shirts... buy in quantity and bargain for a better price
We bought stuff from K-Mart, Walmart, ABC Stores and the Swap Meet. All can vary in price with who is cheaper.
