need immediate response if possible

our computer is broken and we can%26#39;t check this later. But now that hawaiin air screwd us over we have to have a long lay over in Honolulu. How is the airport area? What is there to do? Any special plate lunch places or shave ice in walkign or cab distance?

NY%26#39;er ... I use Hawaiian Air constantly traveling to the mainland US and interisland. Can%26#39;t believe that HA screwed you on your tickets.

Before I help you, how did you book your travel? Did you purchase an e-ticket on line? If you did it on line and you are connecting to HA after departing NY with another carrier, maybe, your original carrier is to blame.

Anyway, when are you coming? From what West Coast City are you flying with Hawaiian Air? Give me date of departure, flight number and the arrival time. Also, your connecting flight and number to Maui. If you are flying Hawaiian Air direct from the West Coast please be sure to check your luggage directly to Maui. If you are taking Hawaiian only after you arrive in Honolulu, than, I can see your problem.

The good news here is that upon your arrival, if your plane is delayed for any reason from the mainland, they are many interisland flights to Maui to connect and I don%26#39;t understand when you say you have a long lay over in Honolulu. Flights fly every hour and Hawaiian Air agents are very good on sending you on an earlier flight to Maui.

I think what I see here is what they call ';Code Sharing';. Code sharing is when two or more airlines are used to get you to your destinations. In this case, you are probably flying with another airline into Hawaii, than, connecting to HA to fly to Maui. What ever the case, please forward me your information and I will try help and recommend a solution.

Will await your reply ... keep smiling, ';Live Aloha';

islekane, there%26#39;s more info from NYF in this topic

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29220-i86-k979739鈥?/a>

although still not enough details, answers some of your questions.

I agree, the idea of a forced layover in HNL makes no sense at all. There are how many flights going to OGG? Lots.

In fact the flights are so cheap that if I couldn%26#39;t work it out with the airline I would just buy two interislands and go ... a honeymoon costs a lot of money and the time is short, for $100 I wouldn%26#39;t suffer through a layover.

NewYorkFoodee, I think if you can stop being angry at HawaiianAir and focus on getting the problem solved you%26#39;ll be happier in the long run. You are mad, I know, but you%26#39;re letting that get in the way of clearly explaining what your problem is; you have to give full details of how your trip was purchased and arranged and WHY you can%26#39;t get on an interisland flight without a layover, or no one here can help you. Just breathe!

KamaainaK, much mahalo%26#39;s, ... you are totally correct. Regardless as to what happen, someone of course is to blame, but, who? NYer should come to Honolulu as schedule. Once off the plane, NYer can go to the counter and see what time the next flight is off to Maui and ';Ala'; he is on his way. While NYer enjoys his final leg to Kahului, Maui, he can now relax, have a ';Mai Tai'; in flight and see what went wrong and who is to blame. I travel Hawaiian alot and the airline is most accomodating as far as I am concerned.

KK, as we say, ';Bra, wat%26#39;s da problem?

Aloha,

islekane,
