LBR and Kuhio shores......maybe good construction news.

Aloha,

Just was talking to one of the owners at Kuhio shores about the possible noise from building in a few months.

Well, from what I hear that Kuhio Shores , and Lawai Beach Resort, and that area, the earth moving, no noise at this time, will be for a golf course.

Lawaii beach is much nearer to the planned development, where Kuhio Shores is located across the road and seperated from the dust shields by the taller buildings of the Lawai Beach Resort.

So, perhaps with the sounds of the ocean, and no hammering and sawing, the visitors and , time share owners at those properties will not have a problem with construction noise.

I will also try to make an appointment with the PR people of kukuiula development and get the scoops from them.

I would like to let our guests at the LBR know exactly what to expect, and what is planned.

Denny

LBR and Kuhio shores......maybe good construction news.

Going to this site you will see the wonderful plan by Kukuiula Development. I do not envision and noise problems for the Lawai Resort

Seems like a wonderful development and asset to Kauai

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

Also proposed for Kukui%26#39;ula Development Shopping Village-- Armani, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton stores along with other

high-end luxury cafes and gourmet shops that will be ';unique to Kaua%26#39;i';.

Plans to turn small Kukui%26#39;ula Small Boat Harbor into a state of the art Yacht Harbor.

1,500 Luxury homes (multimillion dollar) - private spa, private clubhouse on 1,010 acres of the South Shore along with a golf course and luxury boutique hotel

-- and this quote directly from their website:

';Kukui%26#39;ula will provide a TRUE island experience that enhances the sense of living like a LOCAL instead of visiting like a tourist';

(the caps are mine)

Forgive me -- words fail me.

Malama Pono,

Koloagirl quoted:

';Kukui%26#39;ula will provide a TRUE island experience that enhances the sense of living like a LOCAL instead of visiting like a tourist';

Doesn%26#39;t it sound exquisite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful!

Holy cow. Their statement about Kukuiula owners now being ';locals'; is simply MARKETING. The statement should be taken for what it is and that is all that it is. - MARKETING. I don%26#39;t believe they%26#39;re implying that the typical lifestyle of locals is living in $1mm homes and playing golf all day (although there are many long-term residents who DO live that way). What they%26#39;re saying is that if you owned a home at Kukuiula you would be a local owner versus a visitor. What is so wrong with that? Many from the mainland have done this - they now reside there and are no longer just visitors. Is the problem the construction noise and dust or is that the noise and dust is being created from $1mm+ houses. My guess is many people may resent it for just that simple reason. I understand the term local has a much deeper and emotional meaning to the Hawaiians with much more significance than being a taxpayer, but I think their statement is being interpreted too strictly.

I dont know where you all live, but multimillion dollar homes, and high end botiques, is not living like a local on this island of Kauai.

But, at least it will be superbly done, and classy. I doubt if any of us locals, who incidentally live like locals, will see the inside of that property.

I looked at their website, and it is for the millionair high rollers, and will be quite a statement toward the elite. The south shore will be in a contest with Princeville, and it looks like princeville is going to come out second best. Of course they have some new plans for princeville ranch and what they refer to as N.W. Kauai.

Kukuiula will be quite spectacular, but I wonder if there are enough millionairs to purchase all of the cottages and homes. Probably are. And, it is going to be quite something to see their plan for building new beaches, and that marina, and golf course.

Quite an undertaking, and will be quite beautiful when it is completed. Wonder when that will be.

Also, they are putting in a new by-pass road, leading to Koloa road, so that will help with the traffic from their development.

I could not find the site map, but it will be interesting to see how is all will be layed out. Big changes are on the way for the Garden Island.

Denny

ooops...I meant to say N.E. kauai, as well as princeville ranch.

Kalapakidoobey, OF COURSE this is not how most locals live. What is your point? Where is there a community or a town where everyone is on the same economic level? This is just reality.

But you%26#39;re missing the point anyway. This statement of theirs about ';living like a local'; is simply MARKETING. No big deal. Certainly doesn%26#39;t warrant any philosophical socio-economic statement about the inequalities on the island. I can tell you that I certainly could not afford one of those homes but if I could you bet I%26#39;d be there tomorrow. For now, I won%26#39;t begrudge people who have worked hard for what they have and are able to afford these things just because I can%26#39;t. But that%26#39;s just me.

Too bad about the boring and homogenized shops coming to Kauai. I can%26#39;t imagine spending precious time on beautiful Kauai shopping for a handbag I can get at home.

Mahalo for the golf course news. Mrs. S. was fussing that she had made the wrong choice with Kuhio Shores for September and apologizing all over. She kept saying well at least it%26#39;s our first week and we are spending the next up North. Think she%26#39;s feeling better.

scincali, I can%26#39;t see spenidng time in exclusive shops like that either. But alas, they WILL be filled probably. No different than the Shops at Wailea on the Maui. I%26#39;m sure locals will be venturing in there in a steady stream too, to at least check out the merchandise. Agree, these 5th avenue type shops are not exactly the Hawaiian experience but to each his own.
