sunset tours, seasick

Does anyone get seasick on any of the sunset tours. We would like to be on a catamaran, but won%26#39;t be much fun if we%26#39;re green. Thanks! Our trip begins this Wednesday, can%26#39;t wait!

sunset tours, seasick

We have been on the sunset sail many times, it is our favorite activity, but yes I would say on about 1/4 of the rides someone will get sea sick. This is real sailing and the boats do bounce a lot. The morning sails are smoother than the sunset sails if that is a help.

Some people are prone to being seasick, my daughter is one, especially on a sailboat. I am told it is because a sailboat has a keel.

Motion sickness is a conflict between your senses. A fluid filled canal in your inner ear that controls your sense of balance tells your brain that your body is moving, while your eyes tells your brain that you are not moving. That conflict can cause your body to be out of balance

I am told that there is less motion towards the center of the boat, both horizontally and vertically. Avoid upper decks and being inside a cabin

Looking out at the horizon helps many.

Ginger is a natural preventative, it did not help my daughter but friends say it works for them. She even tried eating peppermint with it, no help for her but again we have friends who eat both the night before a trip and it works.

She used Dramamine on s boat trip in New Zealand and that seemed to help lots.

If you do a search on this site you should find many remedies such as the Bonine/Dramamine non-drowsy, ginger candy etc.

We were on Oahu about 6 weeks ago and went out on a boat 2x. The first time, on a fishing boat, I became nauseous. We went on a sunset sail a couple days later, on a catamaran, but I took Dramamine about an hour before sailing and didn%26#39;t have any problems at all. Take the Dramamine - you won%26#39;t regret it. Also, if you%26#39;re looking for a great sunset sail I suggest North Shore Catamaran. I think they%26#39;re at www.sailiingcat.com. The sunset was outstanding and the crew was even better. Enjoy your trip!!
