Crab Restaurant

Crab Restaurant

We will on the island next week. A colleague suggested a restaurant at the end of a pier. I think he said it was a crab house or some thing like that, but no name. Any ideas of where he is talking about and how good it is?

Thanks for any input!!!

There aren%26#39;t too many restaurants in Honolulu that are on the piers...

Here are my best guesses.

1. Nico%26#39;s on Pier 38. Specializes in fresh fish and seafood. Very popular for lunch. Low-key, nothing fancy kind of a seafood-fusion place. In the working area of the harbor. See:

2. John Dominis. One of the classier joints in town, although it does not hold quite the elite status it once did. Specializing in ultra-fresh fish and seafood. Pricey but with an excellent location adjacent to the Kewalo Basin Channel with views across Ala Moana Beach towards Waikiki/Diamond Head. See:

3. One of the restaurants in Aloha Tower Marketplace (of which there are like eight nice ones) which is located between piers 4 and 8 (?) of the harbor. Can%26#39;t say that any specialize in crab, but there are Japanese and Chinese restaurants that offer a lot of seafood dishes. See:

4. Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf. On Kewalo Basin at Ala Moana and Ward Ave. More of a a local watering hole and tourist dinning spot. Lots of seafood (naturally), but I%26#39;ve never been real impressed with the joint. They don%26#39;t have a website but if you Google ';Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf Honolulu'; you can find plenty of reviews and articles about it.

5. Sam Choy鈥檚 Breakfast, Lunch, Crab %26amp; Big Aloha Brewery. Its not on the water, but it is in the harbor area (Iwilei) and specializes in crab and other seafood dishes. Sam Choy is among the most famous and well-loved local chefs, so the food is great....and, as an added bonus, they also brew their own beer, which is also very good. See:

Thanks a Million!!!!
