We need a hotel for 1 night pre cruise ( arrive at 9p.m. and board the ship at noon)%26gt; We were planning to hike the Diamond Head early a.m. Then after the cruise we need the hotel for two nights and are planning to go to Sealife, Polyneasian Centre, whale watching and of course to Waikiki beach.
How far really is it to Waikiki beach? On the map it seems to be a lot more than 3-4 blocks?
Is the bus service good a.m. to take us to Diamond Head?
Would you rather suggest a different hotel or is this one convenient enough?
Aqua Coconut Plaza - how far is it really from everything?

The hotel, a nice little boutique facility at the corner of Lewers Streeet and Ala Wai Blvd., is four relatively long (consolidated) blocks from the Waikiki beachfront.
It is maybe a ten to 15 minute stroll either all the way down Lewers Street to the beach accessway between the Outrigger Reef and Halekulani, or a couple of blocks down Lewers than left along Kalakaua Ave a couple more blocks.
The bus service in town is great and very dependable. They can be caught on Kuhio Avenue one long block from the hotel. You will need to take Route 22, which begins service at 8:15 AM, or Route 58 which can be caught along Kuhio at about 7:10 AM, or at Kalakaua/Monsarrat at 7:00.
Bus 58 is the route which will take you to Sea Life Park as well, if you want to ride that far. See:

Waikiki is not that large (about 1/2 mile wide and 1.5 miles long) so everything is relatively closeby. The Coconut Plaza is only a block or so from the main interior (off-beach) hotel corridor along Kuhio Ave., so while it may be ';less convenient'; than others, it is still well-located. Plus, most of the units will have awesome views across the canal, golf course, cityscape and leeward slopes of the Koolau Mountain range, and you will feel on the edge of the dense resort district not trapped in the middle.
I love the area back by the canal. That%26#39;s where we stayed a couple months ago. Depending on exactly where along the canal, and which part of Waikiki beach you are heading to I%26#39;d guess it takes 15-20 mins walking. Waikiki is pretty condensed, so getting anywhere is not that far away. That said... we walked, walked, and walked some more. We figured 3-5 miles a day just kicking around town.
