I%26#39;ve seen pics of sea turtles on the beaches in Kona and am wondering if they do that in Oahu? And if so, where would we go to see them?
Best place to see Turtles
Yes they are very common in Oahu waters as well. In fact Oahu has one of the best places to see them on the North Shore at a place called Laniakea ';Turtle'; Beach. Its between Haleiwa and Waimea Bay and is pretty easy to find because on any given day there will be a crowd of people and many cars parked on the side of the road. Just make sure to not interfere with the turtles and watch for parking restrictions because even though you are on the north shore they will still not hesitate to ticket your car within minutes!

Thanks Canopy.....we%26#39;ll be staying in Waikik and won%26#39;t be renting a car...i hear it takes awhile to bus to the North Shore...do you know of a closer area?
I have never seen them on the land in waikiki but you can see them often in the water but it takes a little more work to find one, the water in front of the big sheraton is a popular place, the will stick their big head up and look around then dive back down under.
Actually Ala Moana Beach Park is also a great place to spot them, and it is right next door to Waikiki.
Thanks for the info...
Canopy...do the turtles come up to the beach at Alamona beach park?
Canopy is right..... the turlte do come to the waters off of Ala Moana Park. But I personally have never seen them on the beach there. Up at Kawela Bay we have a family of them (about 6) that come in about 1:00 every afternoon, they feed and play for about 2 hours then leave.
They are a beautiful sight!
Aloha
I personally have not seen them beach at Ala Moana either. I have seen them get really close and actually flip flop a few times on the sand when the waves recede, but not much more. They don%26#39;t nest on Oahu, so it is mostly for sun bathing etc. If one did beach at Ala Moana you would definately know when it draws a crowd.
