your favorite sushi in honolulu

I%26#39;m not a fan of sushi, but here are a couple of good seafood buffets that have sushi:

Todai in Waikiki

Makino Chaya in Aloha Tower Marketplace. Also one at Pearlridge.

mahalo -

any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Imanas Tei, 2626 S. King St. It%26#39;s near the university. Can be kind of a pain to find.

Yanagi 762 Kapiolani Blvd., near the arena.

sasabune (on King St.) hands down...but prepare to pay a pretty penny. otherwise california rockin sushi on ward - affordable and good.

My family loves to go to Genki Sushi! Admittedly, it%26#39;s not the best sushi around - we like to say that Genki is to sushi what McDonalds is to hamburgers...but the variety is plentiful, it%26#39;s always fresh, it%26#39;s affordable, and the kids sure love to watch the sushi go round and round and take things off of the conveyor belt. It%26#39;s about half the price of sushi at other Japanese restaurants so we can eat to our stomach%26#39;s content and not have to worry about breaking our budget.

If you like things a little more upscale, then Sushi Sasabune in Waikiki is good. If I remember correctly, it%26#39;s on King St...

If you want teppan yaki, I prefer Kobe over the more touristy Benihana.

Truly, there%26#39;s sushi everywhere. From the ABC Stores to the fanciest restaurants, and everything in between. I have no specific recommendations, just encouragement that they%26#39;ll easily find great places in Waikiki.

Sansei is great!

sushi .... my favorite, eat it at least three times a week.

Like other posters mentioned, Sasabune, Yanagi, Sushi King and others are excellent, only if you know what you are craving for in regards to eating high quality sushi (raw fish and assortments). If you are not into eating raw stuffs and only favor sushi like California Rolls, you need to go to Genki Sushi where you have a large assortment of sushi rolls and other favority sush dishes.

My favorite place is Genki Sushi on Kapahulu Avenue open from 11 am to 9 pm daily. Prices are by plate colors or choice. Very reasonable, fresh and a large assortment of raw, cooked and donburi dishes. Example: $2.40 for two pieces of Fresh Ahi at Genki, while the others will charge over $7.00 for the same plate.

If you are in the Pearl Harbor area, at Pearl Kai Center (shopping mall across of Pearlridge Shopping Center), there is another place I like and it is called Kuri Kuri Sushi. Just like Genki Sushi, they offer a variety of assortments from raw to cooked dishes. Former manager of Genki%26#39;s Kapahulu.

I like D.K. Kodama%26#39;s Sansei Restaurant in the Marriott Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, on the third level. Although a little expensive, if you go between the hours of 5 pm to 6 pm, you may get discount appetizer plates for 50% off. They offer this deal also after, I believe 10:30 pm nightly on anything from their menu. Good place to seat, browse and talk story.

Sushi Run, a conveyor type sushi place, downstairs on the street level of the Marriott, just like Genki is not worth the money. I ate there and did not like the taste of their fresh sushi %26amp; etc. There is different quality and grade of fresh fish. When you have grade 2 or better, you know you are eating good stuff.

Hope this helps .... ';Don%26#39;t forget Miso Soup and Hot Tea';!

';Live Aloha';

California Sushi right next door to Dixie%26#39;s Grill on Ward Ave

in KAKA`AKO!

Me too for Genki on Kapahulu. Not the best, but a good value. I like the way you have the option of ordering or grabbing what you like off the conveyor belt.
