Across the country for a pool? HYATT

From what I%26#39;ve read, many of the experts are saying that the beach in front of the Hyatt are unswimmable.

Are they exaggerating?

If I%26#39;m traveling across the country to some tropical island, I%26#39;d rather not be constricted to a pool.

Its unfortunate. I%26#39;m getting an unbelievable deal at the Hyatt (a couple of free nights and breakfast for two daily) but the beach stinks....just my luck.

Aloha!

The beach is narrow and a bit rocky.

Much better beach at Sheraton.

BUT, you can walk up a bit from the Hyatt and be on a better beach.

Hyatt is a very pretty property.

So, if you can get a good deal there, you should really consider it.

Don%26#39;t be discouraged...you can walk to a nice swimming beach.

Thanks for your help.

How far would the walk be to a nicer beach?

How far is the walk to the Sheraton beach?

Is it free to go other resort%26#39;s beaches (even if I';m not staying at the hotel)?

All Hawaiian beachs are public property. Try going to South Maui for more swimmable beaches. In light traffic it%26#39;s only 30-40 minutes. The good beaches start at Kamaole Beach Park I and go on through Wailea and Makena.

Look here for beach info:

From my understanding - the walk to the Sheraton beach isn%26#39;t far at all..exact time I%26#39;m not sure, but I%26#39;ve been told that the locations aren%26#39;t far from each other and it%26#39;s just a little stroll.

The Hyatt is on the southern end of Kaanapali beach.

As you go north, the beach widens....running parallel to the beach is the Kaanapali walkway. You can swim from the beach. but the nicest part of the beach is up towards the Sheraton at Black Rock.

It may take a few minutes to walk up towards the better parts of the beach...the Marriot is next door and has a swimmable beach. As you move farther north, the beach gets better.... past the Alii condos, the Westin, Whaler%26#39;s Village, Whaler condos, the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and then the Sheraton.

Unless you cannot walk because of a disability, it should not be a problem.

Thanks!!!! This was very helpful.

I think I%26#39;ll take advantage of that Hyatt rate afterall.

Go for it jmsny! We stayed at the Hyatt for our honeymoon and again 7 years later. While I do agree that the beach out front is not that great, the Hyatt grounds do make up for it. Just take a very short walk down the path and the beach area is much better. I am like you, I do not go to beach resorts for a ';pool';. I much prefer the ocean.

Don%26#39;t go to this hotel! We were extremely disappointed upon arrival, contacted our travel agent and were relocated to Fairmont Kea Lani the next day. The beach is unswimmable, the pool is overcrowded, and the area itself is nothing special, far from the unique Hawaiian beauty.

I think you%26#39;ll be fine. Just walk down the beach a bit. Sometimes people say a beach is terrible when in fact it%26#39;s not.
