We stayed there for a week before our wedding, and it%26#39;s worth every penny. The condo manager is absolutely wonderful. They have grill in the back, so you can bbq and watch sunset over the water at the same time!
Inexpensive accomodations in Maui...beachfront...Possible??Hi there - we%26#39;re going to Maui on Feb. 3rd and I rented a condo in Kehei at a very nice property - Maui Sunset. Went through the actual owner who lives just a bit down the way in Kehei. It ended up being $130/night plus the applicable tax you%26#39;d pay at any hotel. The only thing our condo does not have is a restaurant but you do have a full kitchen and all the units have ocean view and view on to the beautiful property.
You could just search this web site for both locations and see what you come up with! There are others if you just search google too. Hope that helps! www.vacationsfrbo.com
The Luana Kai should fit your request quite nicely.

Look on vrbo for bargain rates in North Kihei and Maalea. You%26#39;ll be on a beach, but not a swimmable one.
Ok, ChiSue, don%26#39;t take this personally, because you are not the only one who says this, but the beaches in North Kihei are totally swimmable. They are not as nice as the beaches further south, I will give you that. But there is absolutely no reason you couldn%26#39;t go swimming in North Kihei. Every single day there are people at those beaches. People are swimming, windsurfing, kite-boarding, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, you name it. Can we please, please stop telling people that you can%26#39;t get in the water in North Kihei? Please?
Yep. I%26#39;ll chime in here because I am an offender of sorts on this topic. I tend to fairly strongly prefer south Kihei and have often made statements that could easily be construed as belittling to north Kihei beaches. While I do think that most will agree that south Kihei beaches are generally more inviting, north Kihei beaches are certainly not terrible. After all, even the worst stretch of north or central Kihei beach rivals or even surpasses most of what exists today in southern California. And southern California beaches are routinely a mighty tourist draw during the summer. Nobody rags on them. Apparantly, it%26#39;s all relative :)

Aloha !
I would also check out Kihei Kai. We have stayed there for two weeks in December for the last 4 yrs and have never had a problem. Some of the units have been upgraded (check unit 19 %26amp; 24). Each unit has a/c in the bedrooms but we rarely used it. It is right on the beach and as previously posted you can swim there. We like the location as it is central to any activities you need.
Amen HumpbackHelper!! I waded and swam (swum? swimed?....went horizontal!!) in the ocean off of the Luana Kai for 8 glorious days. Generally just a quick dip in the early am, but none-the-less, stil a swim. Tropixfan is right. There is probably no one alive that will say the beaches in N Kihei are BETTER than those in central and south Kihei, but that does not make them unusable. Aside from the early am dip, we laid around and walked for hours on the north beaches during our stay. The only thing we did not do in the north was snorkel. For that, we were forced to travel a bit. OH HURT ME!! We had to leave our resort and see and experience other parts of the island!!
I know I%26#39;m in the minority, but we prefer to be beachfront on a mediocre beach verses across the street (and up a hill in some cases!!) from a great beach.
