Kauai in July

Hi there,

We are going to Kauai in July and are concerned about the lack of AC in a lot of the affordable condos/hotels. They all say they have funs but is that enough? We will be staying in the Poipu area.

Thanks!

Kauai in July

KAUAI IN JULY !

For 12 years, we stayed in Poipu Kai, no A/C. This would be in the june/july time frame.

The trades are generally fairly strong, we opened the doors and louvered windows, and turned on the ceiling fans. We did not have a problem at poipu kai. Never were uncomfortable.

Another thing is that we are in good physical condition and are not bothered so much by heat, as others might be. Also, if the trades drop, it might get a little uncomfortable, since the wind really does help to cool the island down.

If A/C is high on your list, you might look into places that offer it.

We live here now, and there is no heat, or air conditioning available in all of Halelani. It does get a bit warm, but the fans, and trades generally make it quite comfortable.

However, when those trades drop in Oct, we can tell......and if we had air conditioning it would have been on. We just ride along with whatever mother nature presents us, and it really is not that big a deal.

Cannot help you as to who offers A/C, as we have NEVER had it on any of our island visits, on any of the islands.

One reason might be that the electrical bills are very high. And visitors would leave the air conditioning on when they go out. The owners bill would be huge. We pay in electrical $ 140.00 to $ 170 per month.

Taht is for a small 2 br/2ba 750 Sq foot condo. We even turn off the hot water breaker when not using it, are cautious about what electrical we use, and we have zip heating or a/c.

I suppose the Hyatt, and other high end accomodations might have a/c....not sure.

Kauai in July

We stayed in Maui in July with no air conditioning and I personally was quite miserable, even with winds and fans. I am from Alabama and spoiled for air conditioning. I can%26#39;t sleep if I am hot

or warm. We are going to Kauai in July and have booked at the new Outrigger Waipouli condo resort. Every unit has air conditioning and that was pretty much the decision maker for us. Most of the hotels do have air also but we have our daughter on this trip and needed a condo.

I have been in Kauai in both July and August, but it was on the Northshore - seemed to rain most nights, which keeps things cool. We only had fans in our accommodations, and btw those and the trade winds, felt perfectly fine. The only time if felt muggy was back at the airport, though that might have been the grief of leaving soaking in. Good luck! :)

I%26#39;m used to the weather now but still had a hard time sleeping in Aug/Sept this year when the trades dropped off. Most of the time a fan is fine. It%26#39;s no where near as hot and humid as the deep south where a fan just stirs the liquid air around. But then there are the days when the locals get their tents and camp on the beach.

One reason they are affordable is they aren%26#39;t providing AC with electricity at 30-35 cts/KWhr.. It adds up fast.

We stayed July Kuhio Shores no air but not in room during heat of day as traveled around or on beach. Fan was enough with winds. We also were concerned with as we faced east and ocean reflected sun.
