Where to vacation in Hawaii w/2 young children

My husband and I want to vacation in Hawaii over Spring Break next year (Mar-Apr 2008) and take our two daughters, ages 5 %26amp; 6 with us. We want to have a lot of beach time and out-door sightseeing, as well as good places to eat, and with a fairly tight budget. What island would you recommend?

Personally I have only been to Maui, but can highly recommend it for families with young children. Maui will match your criteria very well.

It all depends on whether you want crowd free areas or don%26#39;t mind being amongst lots of people. Maui is terrific but lots of people everywhere you go. Kauai is more laid back, the Big Island is so vast that I think it%26#39;s the least ideal if traveling with little children.

For my money, I love Oahu. When we go, we stay on the North Shore. Turtle Bay Resort is my absolute favorite destination, but if you are on a tight budget, they have condos on the resort grounds that are much more reasonable. If you don%26#39;t mind the crowds, you could stay in the Waikiki area and just travel the island.

We just returned from 2 weeks at KaAnapoli Shores on Kaanapali Beach, Maui. There were young children everywhere. They have

a children%26#39;s pool apart from the adults, large expanses of lawn

and beach. It is quite wavy though so most kids played in the sand

then swam in their own pool.
