hotel + air - best deals

Hi all, I know I am late at booking, but I need a resort for four. Husband plus two daughters 19 ,22. Any ideas for sometime between Aug 16 - 29 for 6 to 10 days. I would like a 4 star or higher. We don%26#39;t want night life, just good beach and food. Any ideas on places to book , we need air from sfo, sjc, oak or lax. Not to throw too much into the mix but we are open to any island. We have been to Kona Village twice and loved it. Also have stayed in Maui and Kauai about 15 years ago. Thank you all in advance.

Hi there, just wanted to mention my wife and I found the best package deal(air+hotel+car) to Kauai out of SFO on United.com for a September trip. I learned a little trick of first pricing a trip on Expedia or Travelocity and seeing which airline comes up with the best price there. I then go to their direct website and find that their price is sometimes quite a bit lower. We also liked United because they had a direct flight. This also worked last year for Oahu on American Airlines%26#39; website.

ATA starts flying out of Oakland June 15th. I got great fares. Only downside is the flight leaves at 6 PM. Return flight is a red eye but it beats United%26#39;s fares by $300-400PP. Since you are on the Kauai forum we will tell you to go to Kauai! The north shore is beautiful and of course that is where I will steer you. I also like The Hyatt in Poipu but with 2 girls it can get very expensive. You might do better at a condo. If you belong to Costco you can good prices on car rentals. You really don%26#39;t need a package deal.

Also check out kayak.com for air, etc.

For websites of condos go to summitpacific.com, VRBO and Alohacondos.com. These are all privately owned units.

Book now as availabilty is limited.

Also for everyone%26#39;s on this forum the interisland airlines are offering $9 each way from HNL to LIH. Guests of mine arriving in Oct secured that rate today.

You also might try checking out some of the last minute travel sites -- they often have some decent packages. Also try Travelzoo on-line and Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays.

Thank you all, i%26#39;m trying your suggestions. Any thoughts on the Sheraton vs the Marriott in Kauai? Thank you again in advance.

Had great experience with VRBO. We currentlly have one with Aloha condos and am not real pleased that they keep 20% of your total rent if you cancel at any time. My fault for not checking closely. We

don%26#39;t travel until Dec. but if we cancel for any reason we lose $300.

I don%26#39;t think this is good practice. Just my opinion.

The Sheraton is on a decent beach for sunning and swimming, which is not common in Kauai. The Hotel gets mixed reviews, but as far as I can tell, the ocean and beachfront wings have been remodeled and in good condition. The Marriott has two locations on Kauai: a combined hotel/timeshare at Kalapaki Bay in Lihue and the Marriott Waiohai, which are timeshare condos in Poipu. The Poipu development is much newer, but doesn%26#39;t have all the amenities that the Lihue (former Westin) has. The Poipu Marriott is just a short stroll down the beach from the Sheraton.

It kind of depends on what your priorities are.

Have you tried the website: kayak.com? I use that regularly as a search engine for Expedia, priceline, various airline websites for their fares and deals. Might help you.
