Has anyone been to the Molokai Hula Festival (Ka Hula Piko) in May? We were in Molokai already for 1 week last year. We were thinking perhaps of going back just for the festival if it was really a wonderful event.
Our 5 year-old daughter loved the dancing at the Polynesian Cultural Center and hula performances we have seen. I was concerned that since the Ka Hula Pikos in Molokai is a free event it will be so crowded that we won%26#39;t see anything.
We were thinking of perhaps coming for just a few days from Maui instead of staying for a week. But I%26#39;ve read that there are things all week leading up to the Saturday event. Is is worth going for the whole week? Our other option would be to go to the Big Island for the whole week because we haven%26#39;t been there.
Molokai Hula Festival or Big Island?ka hula piko is drawing 2 thousand people, and there is lots of room to get close, bring a mat to sit on. it is not a competition or a commercial event, and that makes it special. you could stay 3 or 4 days and go to all the beaches, and then still hop over to another island, now that the airfares are so cheap and more airlines come to moloka%26#39;i. lots of people come from other islands for ka hula piko, so it is best to reserve car and accommodation way in advance.
Molokai Hula Festival or Big Island?Thank you for your reply.
Are their several stages at the Ka Hula Piko with performances at each stage? Otherwise I can%26#39;t figure how you could see with 2 thousand people there. What are the events leading up to Saturday? Is it worth coming over for them?
We are in a vacation club called TAN where we have pre-paid weeks. TAN has units in the Hotel Molokai and condo units in Maui. We enjoyed Molokai but the Hotel Molokai was not a great place to stay with a child. So, I am trying to decide whether to come for a whole week before the festival but don%26#39;t really want to stay in Hotel Molokai for that long again. Is it worth coming over the week before or does most everything happen on Saturday?

the main event is on saturday, but before this there are informational lectures on thursday and friday evening. no, there is only one stage but is it centered in the open with people sitting around it in the half shade under the trees.
Thank you. So, I guess in your opinion there is not a lot of reason to come prior to the festival on Saturday except to spend time enjoying Molokai?
