Restaurant dress codes

Just wondering what the dress codes are for dinner at Hy%26#39;s, Alan Wong%26#39;s and the Hanohano Room. We plan on trying all three during our honeymoon in Waikiki.

Don%26#39;t know about any of those specifically, but the dress code for the islands is pretty casual. I didn%26#39;t bring a pair of dress pants and didn%26#39;t feel like I needed them at all, even at our nicest dinners in Maui.

casual dress is appropriate ... guys with a collar shirt (no tee shirts) and dress pants (fashionable jeans okay) and the ladies dress appropriate to accompany the gentlemen. A sports coat with an aloha shirt is my choice. You making me ono-licious for this places.

Good choices for dinner. Hy%26#39;s using the keawe wood for it%26#39;s steak, Alan Wong%26#39;s the numba #1 voted restaurant by the residents of Hawaii and the view atop the Sheraton Waikiki at the Hanohano Room, is unbelieveable. You will enjoy all three.

We have reservations at Alan Wong%26#39;s %26amp; Hy%26#39;s. Here%26#39;s the reply Alan Wong%26#39;s sent me when I asked about the dress code:

';Dress code is Business Casual. We prefer collared shirt and long pants for gentlemen. And for women, evening dress is preferred. Please no beach wear. Thank You!';

What exactly do they mean by ';evening dress'; for women??

I understand the finer restaurants arent gonna want people showing up in T-shirts and shorts, but evening dress sounds a bit formal to me....

Hi TG: To me, business causal, is just that. What you wear to the office. So when they say evening dress, I%26#39;m planning to wear a black (I always wear black when someone says ';evening attire) skirt %26amp; a blouse with proper shoes, nothing fancy, just not a sun dress or something.

Do you think they have dress codes other than dress shorts or a nice sun dress? My son will hate me if he has t wear long pants to brunch!!! (17)

When we were in Oahu in 2005, we never dressed up other than dress shorts. In fact the most expensive restaurant we went to was Ruth Chris%26#39; and I wore jean shorts, a nice T-shirt %26amp; sandals (gasp!)

I never even thought about dressing up! The only thing that made me email Alan Wong%26#39;s and ask was that I figured I would be paying over $100 a plate for each of us and that might constitute a dress code!!! :-)
