Chinese New Year

We will be in Honolulu for Chinese New Year %26amp; wanted to know what sort of things we could expect in Chinatown?

Is there entertainment, Dragon Dance etc?

Where are some good but not expensive places to eat in Chinatown ?

2007 NIGHT IN CHINATOWN FESTIVAL %26amp; PARADE

The annual Night in Chinatown Festival and Parade will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007.

A day long celebration on Maunakea Street in the heart of Chinatown to ring in the Chinese New Year, The Year of the Boar.

The street faire begins at 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

From ethnic Chinese food, to Chinese crafts, to fortune telling, to Chinese medicinal arts.

Stage entertainment begins at 2:30 pm on 2 stages in Chinatown. Evening entertainment features martial arts, folk dancing, lion dances, and the presentation of the 2007 Miss Chinatown Queen and court.

Commencing at 4:00pm down Hotel Street, the ever popular Night in Chinatown Festival Parade featuring, bands, VIP dignitaries, Miss Chinatown, martial arts, Corvettes, mascots, lion dancers, clowns, and the 150-foot majestic dragon.

CHINESE NEW YEAR%26#39;S CELEBRATION AT ALOHA TOWER MARKETPLACE

Aloha Tower Marketplace will host a Chinese New Year celebration on Sunday, February 18 at 11 AM in the Center Atrium, beginning with a traditional Lion Dance to wish merchants and spectators good luck for the Year of the Boar! Admission is FREE!

The celebration will begin with a traditional Lion Dance by the Wah Ngai Lion Dance Association, followed by firecrackers and a Kung Fu demonstration. The Lion will then visit participating merchants to wish them luck for the New Year. The Lion may also be approached by spectators if they too wish to be blessed.

Hong Kong Harbour View Restaurant, located on the second floor of Aloha Tower Marketplace, will also offer Dim Sum and a special New Year%26#39;s menu.

Aloha Tower Marketplace is Hawaii%26#39;s premiere waterfront destination for shopping and dining, with over 70 shops and award-winning restaurants. It offers a variety of free activities such as ukulele lessons and live entertainment. Located next to the Hawaii Maritime Center, validated self and valet parking options are available.
