Okay, I lived on Oahu for 3 years and been to Maui and Kauai, but I%26#39;m a moron about the BI. We%26#39;ll be on Oahu for 4 days in June, then on to the BI for 4 days. Me, wife and two 15 YO girls. At first I thought about renting a house, but wife says the girls probably need some other people around. Interest is mostly on a beach, maybe a day trip to VNP. Like good restaurants. What area should we stay in? Any specific condo recs? Thanks!

Where to stay on Big Island?
Hi!
Just got back from 10 days of pure paradise on Jan. 17. Spent 5 days on Maui, and 5 days on the Big Island. I have to highly recommend the condos at Kona by the Sea on the Big Island. We had booked a 1 bedroom oceanview, and it wasn%26#39;t ready when we arrived. They put us up in a 2 bedroom for the night (which was an upgrade), and then we were going to have to switch to another room the next day. I was not thrilled at all about having to move all of our stuff again, but they assured us that they would take care of everything while we were out for the day. My unhappiness with the situation paid off, as they upgraded us again, to an oceanFRONT 1 bedroom on the 3rd floor, that was literally a couple hundred yards from the ocean! The condo was lovely, and the view from our balcony made any unpleasantness worth it! The staff were extremely helpful with any questions or arrangements. The fact that they did not have an actual beach did not matter, as they have a sandy area between the pool and the ocean, and it was just awesome! You can very easily go over the wall to the rocks and explore the tide pools. And it was awesome watching the surfers right in front you! Sea turtles also sun themselves on the rocks in front. It was pure heaven to sit on our balcony enjoying a glass of wine, watching the sunset, and listening to the conch blow every evening. Only negative would be if you want to go to VNP, it%26#39;s probably about 3 hrs. from Kona. I would recommend spending a night in Volcano if you want to spend any amount of time there. We opted not to drive there, but we did do the helicopter tour of the island, which was amazing to see from the air. We probably would have missed alot if we had just drove there and spent the day. We also discovered an awesome restaurant right up the road from Kona by the Sea. It was called Jameson%26#39;s by the Sea, and it was wonderful. The fish was fantastic, and the view was spectacular. If you sit outside in the front, you are literally separated from the crashing waves by a stone wall, and it was amazing! Well hope this info helped, I could go on and on. If I have anything else to offer, I%26#39;ll write!
