We need someone to marry us on a North Shore (Oahu) beach in the very near future. We have a photographer and therefore just want some quick, basic package with no frills other than a maile lei for me and a bouquet for her. The only caveat is that my fiance is set on the ceremony having an ';island feel'; to it, with much of the ceremony being influenced by the native culture if possible. If the officiate/minister is actually Hawaiian, that%26#39;d be even better in her mind (and I sincerely hope that comment doesn%26#39;t somehow offend anyone because I%26#39;d never intend to do that). Any reliable suggestions? Thanks.
Beach wedding officiate recommendation?
I%26#39;am sorry that I don%26#39;t know, but I%26#39;am bumping you up so someone that does might answer you. Good luck
Beach wedding officiate recommendation?
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I%26#39;ve got just your man:
Rev. Mark Yasuhara
98-288 Ka%26#39;onoki Street, Suite 3902
Ai%26#39;ea, Hawaii 96701
(808) 228 5068
Mark was our minister when we had a simple wedding in Hawaii in 2004. He was fantastic but there is a but... He was arranged by a wedding coordinator we found on the net - Roger Parsons. I would not recommend using Roger at all, ever, under any circumstances! He didn%26#39;t listen to our wishes at all despite having confirmed our plans several times and on the day he just didn%26#39;t seem to give much of a hoot about our wedding at all. It was pretty lousy and I was so very disappointed in his services and his photography. My family members actually took better pictures. It was difficult to find some to choose among for our number of %26#39;package included%26#39; photos. Then he was really offended when we said we didn%26#39;t want to purchase the other couple of dozen of really, really bad ones for $10 each. To this day, none of his pictures of us are framed.
Mark, however, was a true, gentle, warm person and as he also gave us a blessing in hawaiian. This may be what your fiance is after. I%26#39;d give him a call to see which other wedding coordinators he%26#39;s affililated with.
Enjoy
We just returned from our own wedding and honeymoon and I would definitely reccomend our officiant if you are looking for something fairly informal and to include a few Hawaiian influences such as chanting, conch shell blowing etc. Her name is Kalona and you will find her at www.arainbowinparadise.com. A really sweet lady who kept in regular contact with quick replies to all our emails. We had the #4 - Ho%26#39;ao Pule (Hawaiian Wedding Prayer) package but had a seperate videographer who we picked ourselves so I%26#39;m sure she will be fine with you already having your own photog. but better check just to be sure. I%26#39;ll email you seperately with our ceremony so you can see what you would be getting. Let me know what you think.
