island hopping

What is the best way to get from island to island. I know flying is good however long lines in airports are not fun and can take up a good part of the day. Are there any water taxis or ferries that shuttle people around?

The other major method that just launched is the Hawaii Superferry.

';sorry I meant [the superferry is] ABOUT to launch, it is slated to begin this summer...';

I%26#39;ll believe it when I see it. It will also be interesting to see how popular it is and how long it lasts.

I agree, the superferry may not open on our time, only on Hawaii Time. So I would plan on inter island flying. I normally plan to do this hoping about mid day, when the sun is highest and hottest and call it sun screen. The good news is the local airports are smaller and kinder. At least that is my experience.

Despite the delays at the airport, the ferry (if it really starts up) will take 3 hours to go from one island to the next, so flying will still be more efficient in regards to time (the flights only take about 1/2 hour each).

lol yeah very true. stick with the interisland flights for now...

When Island hopping, consider go airlines. The fares are low - $39.oo each way or lower, the scheduled convenient and because they use the ';older'; terminal in Honolulu, it is less congested. Aloha.
