leaving for Maui on 6/5/07

We are leaving for Maui on Tues. We have planned this trip in about 9 days so I am a little nervous about ';stones left unturned';. We are celebrating our 40th anniversary and my husband wanted it to be a susprise but he left all the plans to me. We are staying at the Maui Kai. We have reservations for the Sheraton luau because we were too late to book the lol. We have dinner reservations at Mama%26#39;s fish house for our anniversary. We also plan to eat at Pacafic%26#39;O, sea house, hula grill and kimo%26#39;s. We are doing the road to Hana and are snorkeling on our own off shore. We plan to go to several different beaches and see as many sights as possible. Does anyone have any ';must do'; recommendations? Any last minute advice would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank those of you who have offered suggestions. I have learned so much from this board! Thanks everyone.

First of all, kudos for the forty years together!!!

In today%26#39;s world, forty years is rare, indeed.

If you two like musical theatre, check out ';Ulalena'; in Lahaina... I have seen it several times and really love the music.

If you both enjoy wine, check out the Tedeschi Winery... pick up some wine to enjoy as you watch the sunset or bring a bottle of the pineapple wine or the red wine to enjoy when you return home.

Do you plan a visit to Haleakala? The sunrise is wonderful, but COLD! The sunset is also impressive.

You have many of the restaurants covered and the right attitude, just remember to SLOW down and RELAX.

Finally, remember to stop and enjoy the sunsets every evening, take plenty of photos to show everyone back home and use sunscreen liberally.

Enjoy your trip, you two deserve it.

Think the best advice is usually Brighton Bill%26#39;s so I will leave it to him. Mine is to relax and enjoy remembering the 40 years and making more memories. Blessings on your trip and for many more years of happiness.

Congrats on 40 years! It sounds like you have hit several of the high spots. Just relax and enjoy!

If you haven%26#39;t already considered the Feast at Lele instead of the Sheraton Luau, you might want to take a look. It is in Lahaina which is somewhat closer to where you will be staying. It is very romantic and table service at your private table. They have a wonderful view of the sunset!

1. Blowhole.

2. Mamas (but i see you%26#39;re already going there. You will LOVE IT)

3. Snorkeling on Four Winds II

4. Evening walk through Lahaina

5. Early Morning Drive through Hana

6. Warren %26amp; Annabelles (I%26#39;ve never laughed so hard in my life, it was a blast!)

**I%26#39;d also reccomend purchasing Maui Revealed. It%26#39;s hands down the best guidebook I%26#39;ve ever invested in and ';revealed'; a lot of hidden hikes that were breathtaking. If you do go hiking do NOT leave valuables in your car at the trailheads as breakins are not uncommon. Either take them with you or leave them in the trunk.**

Enjoy!

Congrats on 40 years!! We leave for Maui 06/07. I take it you are a War Eagle Fan. My son will be attending University of Alabama this fall even though my brother is an Auburn Graduate (1983). Although we are staying at the Whaler, we are planning on eating at most of the sames places you are. Maybe our parhs will cross. We have signed up for the Trilogy Sunset Cruise and also parasailing from UFO. Both sound fun. Hope y%26#39;all have a great time.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and best wishes. We have the Maui revealed book but we just got it 2 days ago. We have looked through it briefly. We are planning on studying it more on the flight.

Wondering, I am a 1969 graduate of Auburn. My husband played basketball at Birmingham Southern and graduated there. My son graduated from Auburn in 2001. Good luck with your son and his college days at Alabama. Maybe we will run into you in Maui. We will be the ';old'; but';very fun'; couple with the guy in an Auburn cap and the girl with a fruity drink. I am sure we will stand out in the crowd. I can%26#39;t pronounce any of these hawanian words so my Southern drawl will have people in stitches.

Aloha
