Princeville Resort

I%26#39;ve heard wonderful things about this hotel. If you are not a guest, are you still allowed to use the grounds? Such as the infinity pool, etc.?

Thanks in advance

Princeville Resort

I don%26#39;t think they would allow you to use the pool. Me and my friends like to go around the island and jump in the hotel pools, and we%26#39;ve been kicked out of some. You could always take your chances though and make up a room number. :P I don%26#39;t see any harm in walking around the grounds, though.

Princeville Resort

Wander in the lobby, have a drink at the bar, eat at a restaurant are all ok. Going in the pool will get you tossed -- guests only. (basically it%26#39;s theft of services when it gets right down to it).

Don%26#39;t try it. All the resorts are getting after locals (and non guests) about using the facilities. The pool isn%26#39;t all that great anyway. The Hyatt%26#39;s is much better!

you can go down to the pool area, there%26#39;s a bar/kitchen down there that makes some lighter meal items. i%26#39;ve gone down there and eaten and had drinks when i wasn%26#39;t a guest..wandered around the grounds and so on.

can%26#39;t go in the pool though. and i%26#39;d imagine you can%26#39;t use their lounge chairs either.

is this the sheraton property? we just received one of ';those'; offers and were tempted

Isn%26#39;t the Hyatt on the South shore? We are staying in Princeville. Is it feasible (and worth it) to drive down to the South Shore and spend the afternoon checking out the Poipu area and the Hyatt?

Thanks!

A lot of times I%26#39;ll walk by a nearby Hanalei Bay Resort pool and it%26#39;s empty. I personally don%26#39;t have a moral issue with taking a quick dip if it%26#39;s empty. If I feel guilty, I%26#39;ll have a drink and pupu at Bali Hai for sunset. I%26#39;ll also agree that if you%26#39;re a lawless thrillseeker, the Hyatt is the Kauai pool most worth the risk of getting tossed from.

the sheraton is in poipu. princeville is a starwood resort.

Yes the Hyatt is also on the south shore in Poipu. I%26#39;d definitely recommend a drive down there for a south %26amp; west shore day. There%26#39;s a few nice beaches, restaurants and a couple small towns. Try to avoid the Lihue to Kapaa traffic. If on the North Shore, a day trip to Waimea / Koke%26#39;e is also well worth it. I like spending a night at Koke%26#39;e cabins if planning a long hike the next day, but reviews here are mixed at best - kind of like camping.

Last time I was at the Hyatt was to watch an SC - Irish football game. There%26#39;s a little bar with a TV by the pool - very pleasant compared to your typical sports bar. My girlfriend and another couple don%26#39;t appreciate Trojan football, so I got dropped off there while they spent a few hours at Mahaulepu.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

I used to work at the Sheraton Kaua%26#39;i and so was able to stay (for free!) up at the Princeville. Both of these properties do not allow non-guests on their facilities unless you are with a guest of the hotel, and then they must be ';checked in'; under your name at the front desk so that you have ID that allows you to be there.

They are very strict about their properties -- no one can use any of the facilities, including the pool, lounges, grassy area, etc. without being a hotel guest. Their security is very on top of that also!

You can use their little man-made sandy beach area though -- and they certainly don%26#39;t care if you want to order food at their beachside facility!

All of the hotel properties (and some condos as well) are very strict about monitoring their property for ';uninvited guests'; -- since people pay such a high price for the property, they figure that it is for their enjoyment and not for folks to ';crash'; for free.

Don%26#39;t try it -- you%26#39;ll always get caught!

Malama Pono,

Janet
