Trip Report May 17 - 28 Part 1

Husband, myself, grandgirls 9 and 11. We changed locations three times. I%26#39;m not going to do a day by day. I will highlight each portion of the trip. Hopefully I will be somewhat concise.

SFO - OGG nonstop. Kids and I retrieved luggage whil husband got car. (Knew immediately I had overpacked) Didn%26#39;t take long. Went straight to Hotel. Skipped Costco as the condo portion of the trip was 4 days away.

Kaanapali Beach Hotel - 3 days

We all absolutely loved it here! Had a great room on the groundfloor of the Maui Wing. (I had booked partial oceanview.) We could easily access our car, the morning breakfast buffet, the lobby, the pool and anything else. The room was clean, a bit tired, but nothing bad. But the great part was that the groundfloor rooms are bigger. We had a stepdown with a table and 2 chairs and a daybed that would have otherwise been the lanai, then we had a huge patio outside the floor to ceiling sliding glass door that opened onto the beautiful, peaceful grounds. We enjoyed listening to the nightly hula show fright outside our room with a glass of wine.

The girls participated in the Keiki activities making leis, learning hula, and laula (sp) weaving. After each activity they received a gift of good quality. We attended the Kupanaha Magic Show. The kids loved it. It was entertaining and the food was pretty good. Not a Must-do. We loved the peaceful pool. It was never crowded and we could easily go back and forth between the beach, the pool and our room. It was also easy to pull your lawn chair under a tree for no fee! The girls played checkers on the lawn with the coconuts and we ate a number of meals from the TIKI GRILL at the pool. The morning breakfast was included in our package. It was not great but the kids loved that they could back and forth and they did try some foods they wouldn%26#39;t have otherwise. Husband played golf at Kaanapali and we did the Trilogy Sunset sail right off the beach right there. That was a highlight. We saw a mother whale and her baby. They were 150 yds. from us. Great crew and just the right amount of time. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. I did ask for an eggcrate and different pillows the 3rd night. Wish I had done that sooner. The closing ceremony was sweet. The lady presiding actually had a tear in her eye when telling us the stories. Considering they do this a million times a week, I was touched. We left feeling a little sad. We did not take the car out for the whole time there. Strolled up to Whaler%26#39;s Village and through the grounds of the fancy hotels. We all agreed we liked the KBH the best. Explored Napili for the future and had lunch at Bubba Gumps%26#39; before heading upcountry.

Sounds like you had a nice trip. Lucky granddaughters. Kids can make you see things you have missed in the past. Glad you had fun.
