We went to see of course the Pearl Harbor area....just not sure what to see after that....we will have a rental car...
we are not beach people, do intend to go and spend time on the beach, but not even half a day...soooo
What would you say not to miss in or around Honolulu
Thanks
we are there in late sept
two and a half days in Honolulu..what to do? what is a must?
It depends on how much you do at Pearl and how long a line you run into at the Memorial and if you are planning on seeing the sub USS Bowfin and the battleship USS Missouri. If you do the tours on these it can take up a good part of a day but many feel worthwhile. Bishop%26#39;s Museum is in the area and the Punchbowl also if you are there Wed, Sat or Sun there is the flea market at Aloha Stadium. Iolani Palace, Aloha Tower and the Marine Museum are great history of the Pacific and at the tower marketplace you can see and hear some local entertainment.

gotta take a drive to the north shore-it%26#39;s ';country'; and the real Hawaii, not touristy like Waikiki.
Haleiwa town-funky little shops, rest, the Shrimp truck for scampi, shaved ice at Matsumoto%26#39;s, burger at Kua Aina.
Waimea Bay-turquoise crystal clear water, Waimea Valley, 3 Tables for snorkeling, drive north to Turtle Bay Resort and have a lava flow by the pool.
There are so many hiking trails, some very easy and short, to waterfalls, rain and bamboo forests, tropical flowers.
do some research, tons to do in Oahu!!
aloha!
Honolulu non-beach activities in addition to Pearl Harbor include:
Iolani Palace
Bishop Museum
Mission Houses
Honolulu Academy of the Arts
Doris Duke ShangriLa estate
Chinatown
Way more than you%26#39;ll ever possibly see in only 2-1/2 days!!
The hike up Diamondhead is a nice walk. Not too difficult or long and the views are good.
I know it%26#39;s not actually in Honolulu but one of the tours we really enjoyed during our time on Oahu was the Polynesian Cultural Centre. We booked a tour to get us there and had the $80 tickets (total $99) which include the Ali%26#39;i Luau buffet / show and the Horizons show. When we got there rather than have a tour of the centre we made our own way arouond starting mid way at the Tonga village and working our way around. It seemed that by doing it that way we missed the bulk of the crowds and actually had a pretty quiet walk around. My favourite village had to be Marquesas. The tour bus arrived at PCC about 20 mins before it opened and returned us to Ala Moana for about 10:30 ish
