I was looking for a oceanfront restaurant to have a wonderful dinner at. I was thinking outside seating. What are some of your recommendations?
A beautiful oceanfront restaurant
Among the many restaurants in Lahaina, Kimo%26#39;s is one of our favorites. Located on the ocean side of Front Street, you get a great view of the sunset.
A Caesar salad or a regular salad with muffins and bread, is included with your entree.
One of our favorite dishes is the Opah Kimo%26#39;s style. It is the same as the Duke%26#39;s style preparation in Waikiki. Prepared with a garlic, lemon and sweet basil glaze, it is sweet, light and moist... this dish is one of the best.
If you are tired of seafood or are looking for some beef, try the 32 oz. prime rib on the bone.... you can eat it alone if you are REALLY hungry, or it can be shared between two.... There is also a smaller Molokini cut on the menu. The prime rib is tender and VERY tasty...
There are also ribs, shrimp, chicken and lobster on the menu.
For dessert, I cannot say enough about the Hula Pie! It is not for those on a limited calorie intake, but it just may be worth a diet detour.

Oh I forgot...... regarding Kimos, be sure to make reservations and ask to be seated near the open railing.
Another place to try...Mama%26#39;s Fish House.
Pretty costly, but if you%26#39;re going to splurge, then this is the place!
Located on the outskirts of Paia, this restaurant has an incredible view of the ocean but does not have a great sunset view. The dining area is kept cool by the tradewinds, open hinged windows and the ceiling fans. Reservations are recommended. There is complimentary valet parking.
We had the Poke with roasted Kukui Nuts and Maui onion. It was very good.
Our entrees included the Opah with caramalized Maui onions and avocado over Jasmine rice. It was light and moist with a slight crispness on the outside. The Ahi had a teriyaki glaze with sugarcane skewers and was prepared as this fish should be cooked, rare (if it is overcooked, it becomes too dry and flaky). It was good, but the opah was better, by far.
We really love Kimos. We also like Maalaea Waterfront restuarant and Maalaea.
