Can anyone reccommend a great helicopter tour in Kauai?
After looking online I notice some of the tours have helicopters that have open doors. I bet the unobstructed views are unbelievable, but it seems kind of scary. I%26#39;m a bit nervous of heights! Any recs?
Thanks
Helicopter Tours?
I always recommend Jack Harter, the folks who started it all. I%26#39;ve never had a complaint about them.
Helicopter Tours?
Do you know the price?
I really can%26#39;t answer how you will feel trying any of them with a fear of heights, but if you can get over it the reward is gigantic. My review is in this old message.

We just returned from a trip to kauai and Maui for our 30th anniversary. We took a tour with Interisland helicopters in Kauai and Blue Hawaiian in Maui, Afraid that the one in Maui couldn%26#39;t compare with Interisland on Kauai. Unlike Maui the one on Kauai was doors off and was awesome!! The pictures on the doors off were gorgeous unlike the one on the doors on. I%26#39;am not a particular fan of heights and my husband did not want to do the drive to Hana in Maui because of the possibility of scary heights on that very curvy road, but he was perfectly fine on the doors off helicopter and in fact was the one that suggested that we take another helicopter tour in Maui. If you%26#39;re okay with the airplane flight I would imagine that you%26#39;ll be okay with the heli tour. I only suggest that you dress very warmly, otherwise you%26#39;ll be a little shakey and might confuse it with nerves. I felt like it was a once in a lifetime thing for us and I was just going to leave the nerves on the ground and just concentrate on the extraordinary beauty and forget everything else. After all, you%26#39;re probably more likely to get hurt or die in the car driving around the island, so just relax and enjoy!
Both Jack Harter, and Inter-island have doors off helo tours. We flew with Jack Harter ( himself ) before he started the doors off, but we also flew with inter island with the doors off.
Wasnt scarry for us. You also get some great photos since there is no reflection from the plexiglass. You are strapped in, so no biggie.
Also, be sure and wrap the strap of your camera around your wrist, if you intend on taking photos. The wind will be passing by at about
130 mph. You wont feel it much, just sitting in your seat.
Wear a light jacket, or sweat shirt just to stay comfortable.
Both are great outfits. Jack Harter flys out of Lihue, and Inter island flys out of Port Allen on the west side. That might help make your decision depending on where you stay, and how far you want to drive.
Cost is about $ 200 ea. , give or take $ 20.00.

We have definitely decided to go with Inter-island - wondering if doing the waterfall tour is worth the extra money. Also what time of day is suggested for best visibility or does it not matter?

Where can I find the phone numbers and/or websites of both of these two helicopter tour operators? We%26#39;ll be staying at the Poipu Kai Resort in the south (in late April), so I%26#39;m trying to figure out which tour site will be closest to us. Feel free to share any information in this regard, thanks!
Thanks for all the tips. I think we%26#39;re going to bite the bullet and do the doors off interisland. As long as I%26#39;m straped in, I think I%26#39;ll be fine!
I found Inter-island helicopter tour%26#39;s website through google:
www.interislandhelicopters.com/about.htm
Looks like a better choice based on the time they save in flying to the west side of the island. Reservations can be made online, very convenient.
