Kauai in September

Hello All!

My and my husband are planning a trip to Kauai in September for about 7 days. Is that a good time to go? Also I was undecided between the Princeville area and the East Side or Poipu.

What we are looking for is an area where we can find secluded secret beaches and is romantic. But we still want hiking and to go the Na pali coast. I wouldn%26#39;t mind staying in one area and driving to another. How far apart are the North and South Shore and is it even worth it to see both?

From everything I have read a rental car is the way to go but I have yet to find a decent deal. I would appreciate ANY information and guidance you could provide. Thanks again!

ANY time is a good time to go to Kaua%26#39;i. ;-) September should be fine.

From Princeville to Poipu is about 1 1/4 hours unless you hit traffic. Heading south you%26#39;ll want to take the new bypass, which gets you around a bit of the traffic. In general, the traffic isn%26#39;t really all that awful unless there%26#39;s roadwork or an accident.

I like staying east side; it give equal access to north and south. While the beaches aren%26#39;t swimmable, you%26#39;re probably going to want to explore the island%26#39;s other beaches anyway.

Both north and south shores have sights to see. I really couldn%26#39;t choose one or the other. South has Waimea Canyon, Spouting Horn, Hanapepe town, Old Koloa town, Allerton/McBryde Gardens, Lawai Beach for snorkeling, Poipu Beach Park, and much more. Up north you have Kilauea Light/Marine Preserve, Secret Beach, Hideaways Beach, Hanalei town, Anini Beach, Ke%26#39;e, and the trailhead for the Kalalau Trail, to name a few things. I couldn%26#39;t choose one side over the other.

that%26#39;s the great thing about kauai...there is a lot of diverse beauty...lush tropical rainforest to north and more arid almost desert like landscape all the way to the west and every type of micro climate inbetween....September marks the end of hurricane season....and the air can get pretty still and balmy around that time of year....

for secluded beaches....go past anini beach and keep driving...there are a few great little spots along the way....there are also beaches you can hike to in kilauea or like ct mentioned lawai beach on the south side as well as mahalapu....

sorry i meant pzp not ct!

If you are looking for secluded beaches, the north shore is probably better. In Sept, it%26#39;s a bit hotter on the south/west side to boot.

Kauai rental cars are rarely as cheap as on Oahu. Book a fallback and then keep checking for a deal. If you search here you%26#39;ll see threads talking about cheaper car rental sites etc.
