Worldmark Kihei vs Kihei Kai Nani

My family of four is planning a Maui vacation and so far have narrowed it down to the above hotels. Any suggestions which would be more appropriate? Our children are ages 10 and 11. We are also looking for the hotel with the better swimming beach! Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated...

Worldmark Kihei vs Kihei Kai Nani

Our friends stayed at Worldmark last year when we were there and didn%26#39;t really like it. It%26#39;s up the street from the Kamaole Beaches. Kihei Kai Nani is right across the street from Kamaole II and I think that would be my pick. I would make sure I rent directly from owner.

Worldmark Kihei vs Kihei Kai Nani

Either of these two places have great swimming beaches across the street from them. Worldmark sits across from Kamaole I and Kihei Kai Nani sits across from Kamaole II.

I %26#39;ll try to be non-bias about Worldmark as we stayed there a few years ago (guests of my brother). It%26#39;s a timeshare resort. The condo unit we stayed in was a 2b/2b and had a murphy bed - decent size with A/C and W/D. Don%26#39;t expect daily maid service - only fresh towels whenever you request them. The BBQ and pool were close to our unit, but we didn%26#39;t have a view from our Lanai (unless you count the people we saw sitting on their lanai the Maui Coast Hotel). No extra amenities in the condo as you might get from renting from VBRO. I thought the best thing while we stayed there were Kamaole Beach I (which is about 200 yards away) and the ABC Store (just across the street as well).

Maui Revealed gave Kihei Kai Nani a solid gold rating and has this to say: ';180 units, pool, shuffleboard, lanais on all, bbq, washer/dryers and a/c in some. It%26#39;s across the street from Kama%26#39;ole II Beach, but the views of it aren%26#39;t too great. In fact, avoid the buildings closest to the beach (1-3 and 13) due to traffic noise. (Since it%26#39;s across the street from the water, closer to beach means closer to the road.) The buildings are cheap mid-%26#39;70s construction, but the rooms are clean and functional and the kitchens are complete. You can%26#39;t beat the price and proximity to the beach. Good for the budget traveler. Nice folks here. Every guest gets a box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts upon check-in. The 725 sq. ft. 1/1s are $99-$129';

Hope this helps!

Yep, previous poster is pretty much on track.

Worldmark is across from Kam I, KKN across from Kam II. Ironically, the KKN being older actually means better construction but it does certainly look and feel older. The KKN is over 30 years old and all units are individually owned so if you do not get a recently renovated condo it could be a real dump. That%26#39;s O.K. so long as you are paying ';dump'; rates. Worldmark is corporate so there will be a great deal more consistency across units.

As far as KKN condo location choices go ...

Kihei Road and other sounds of the village will certainly be more evident in the front buildings but, IMO, the ease of beach and shop access plus even possibly some partial views in a few of the front units more than make up for this. I could be wrong (again) but I don%26#39;t think that folks generally come to the south Kihei strip for total quiet and seclusion. There are much better places on island for that.

KKN one bedroom condos are 621 sqft. Larger sizes sometimes quoted include the 100 or so sqft lanai.

The Worldmark is flashier and more modern, the KKN has more character, larger grounds, a better pool and has the better location within south Kihei.

The KKN does have some time-share units and since you are weighing this complex against the Worldmark, I am curious if you are trying to decide which time-share complex to trade into. If this is the case, I would lean toward the Worldmark only because the 2 time-share units that I have seen in the KKN were not among the better condos in that complex.

Enjoy your stay ... Aloha :)

Kihei Kai Nani has some really nice renovated condo, real nice for the price. Check of vrbo.com so see some of them.

I agree with Mandy. My only problem with Worldmark is it%26#39;s pretty nondescript looking. I like to feel like I am in Hawaii when staying somewhere. Ie decor, grounds, etc. Kihei kai nani is older but they have some wonderfully remodeled units.

I don%26#39;t want to offend anyone when I say this but we have noticed that Kamaole I beach tends to draw a scruffy crowd where Kam II seems to not.

If you would tell us the reasoning behind selecting these two, we might have some further recommendations.

I wouldn%26#39;t be too worried about the beach nearest to any condo. You%26#39;ll doubtless have a car and can drive to a new beach every day if you want to. There are a dozen within 20 minutes drive.
