Hi All
Heading to Hawaii next July/August 2007; for a family vacation, this will be our first visit and most probably the last; we will stay for a week in Maui, 2-3 days in Oahu; our teens 15%26amp;16 years, are very anxious to visit the volcano national park @ the BI, thanks to Discovery channel %26amp; National Geography!!
So, I wonder if somebody could clarify the following points:
1] Is it worth ?? what about Maui and Oahu volcanoes? Not enough!!;
2] Is one day will be enough?
3] Is there a one day trip to the BI, from Maui? name of the local travel tour agent !
4] or it will be much more better, cost-effective, to do the tour by ourself !!
all recommendation are highly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Big Island: One day!!
It would be better to have more than one day, but if that%26#39;s all you have, gly to Hilo, rent a car and go....or spring for the helicopter tour and do the fly over.
My kids loved exploring the park...we started out to hike out to view the lava but it proved to be too difficult. Check with the NPC to see about lava viewing.
Even if you don%26#39;t get out and do the hike to the lava viewing, you will still enjoy the park---amazing hikes, Thurston Lava Tube, and just seeing the craters and devestation is amazing.
Try for more than one day if you can...
