North shore condos and beaches

Posted the other day but didn%26#39;t get any responses, so I%26#39;m trying again.

We are looking for a vacation rental on the north shore - fairly close to the PCC (Leie? Hauula? Kahuku?) There are plenty on vrbo that look great, but I%26#39;m wondering if anyone has stayed in a particular one that they loved.

I also want to know which beaches will be fairly calm, swimmable beaches in May (maybe good for snorkeling too). Which of those areas (or others nearby) would people suggest?

North shore condos and beaches

Hi! when we went in June 2005, we rented a 1 bedroom condo from vrbo (I think, may have been a different website) that was at Turtle Bay-we really liked it, and it wasn%26#39;t too far of a drive over to Laie and the PCC. From our condo, we walked over to Turte Bay%26#39;s beach to swim-it was great. On one side of the hotel is a more rocky beach and onteh other side is their swimming beach.

Thanks for the tip. I%26#39;ll check it out.

It seems strange that I%26#39;m not getting more replies to this topic. Did I word it strangely or something?

I%26#39;m going to bump just to see if anyone else has anything to add.

Thanks!

We stayed in a two bedroom house in Laie in December that we thought was great. It is right on the beach. Across the street is a small shopping center with Foodland, etc. Very convenient.

MBrack,

We just came back on Thursday and we stayed at one of the oceanfront cottages in Punaluu. It%26#39;s actually a 4plex so it is fairly small but I found it to be perfect for my bf and I. The beach was literally 10 steps away from our lanai and was almost always deserted. The waters were always calm and you could go out fairly far and it still wouldn%26#39;t be deep. There was also snorkelling there but not as much as say Hanauma or even Lanikai. I always saw snorkellers way out far close to the barrier reef but I didn%26#39;t have the guts to venture out that far by myself. We stayed there for two weeks and we are already planning a trip back next year and we are going to stay at the same place. The PCC was about a 5minute drive away. I loved the location of the cottage because we were fairly close to everything except for Waikiki/Honolulu which was about a 30-40min away. While we were there most of the beaches were swimmable except for the North Shore ones. As for snorkelling, there is Shark%26#39;s cove in the North Shore and Turtle Bay. There were also other locations right along the beach close to the cottage.

The owner of the cottage we stayed at was very professional and super friendly. She answered all our questions and gave us lots of tips and recommendations. As this is a 4plex and there are 4 of them I believe plus the main complex (Pat%26#39;s at Punaluu%26#39;s) you have plenty of options to choose from. We liked our particular unit because it was the bottom and we had our own lanai compared to the top which didn%26#39;t. (I thought that kind of sucked for the renters upstairs)

All in all I loved this place and I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to recommend it to anybody.
