recommendation for house in Kauai

Hi, we are looking to rent a private home in Kauai for late July. I would like to know an area people would recommend or an exact house if you have a good experience with one. Need it to sleep 6 people...prefer reasonable beach access and also need it to be somewhat close to golf and restaurants. THANKS for help in advance. Any thoughts are appreciated.

WB - Given your priorities and time of year, I would suggest you check out houses on Anini Beach on the northshore. Northshore weather is wonderful in the summer and Anini Beach in particular is very gentle and reef protected. There are no hotels or condos there, just homes so it is very laid back and peaceful. You are just a few minutes from Princeville, where there are very good golf courses. You might try looking at Serenity Rentals web site -- they have a lot of Anini houses. We have stayed at several places there, but the only one that would sleep six is Hale Kai, a very comfortable, clean place on an extroadinary part of the beach. There are others that are more upscale, depending on what your budget is.

There is a website called VRBO.com. Rental by owner. The tough part is it takes time to go through the properties but we have had great luck finding vacation rentals and they tend to be less money as thay are directly from the owner. Annini beach rentals are very popular and book up early.

You could try Poipu as well. Lots of sun. Poipu Bay golf course is smashing. Lots of restaurants too.

This place was truely a find. We found it on VRBO.com/95823. It is not on the beach but overlooks the ocean and is about 1-2 min drive down to a beautiful beach. The estate also has a guest house but we did not rent it.
