My husband and I are staying on the Big Island for a week and than flying into Kauaii our last 8 days June 24- July 1. Should we divide our stay between Princeville and Poipu or stay in Kapaa or Wailua midway. We are flying into Lihue? I%26#39;ve checked privately owned condos in all the areas. We are trying to stay in the $125 a night price range with an 3rd floor oceanview 1 bedroom. Does anyone have any suggestions? I%26#39;m getting really tired of checking all these websites. Thanks Lou.

Aloha!
It%26#39;s not a 1 bedroom, BUT I would look into ResortQuest Islander on the beach. Their rooms have all been renovated and the grounds are nice. Plus, you get A/C and daily miad service. It is located EAST side which is good for site seeing. I would not divide my stay when staying only 7 nights.

At $125 per night, you%26#39;ll be somewhat limited but you can still find a lot of nice places. The east shore would probably be your best bet. If you haven%26#39;t already, take a look at vrbo.com under the Kapaa and Wailua areas. Some places specifically in that price range could be Wailua Bayview, Kapaa Sands, Pono Kai, and Kapaa Shores.
Islander on the Beach, Lanikai, Kaha Lani, Lae Nani, Hale Awapuhi and the Coast Resort will all be a bit more expensive, in the $150-$200 per night range.
We spent six days there in September----3 nights in Hanalei, 3 nights in Kalaheo. We%26#39;re glad we did it that way. We wanted to minimize driving time and did all of our north shore activities from our base in Hanalei, then did the southern and western things while based in Kalaheo. Gave the stay two quite distinct parts. We stayed in B%26amp;Bs which didn%26#39;t have oceanviews, so can%26#39;t suggest specific places.
I recommed the Kauai Banyon Inn.

Affordable and amazing! Check out the reviews on trip advisor. It is rated #1 for small inns.
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I really enjoy reading the advice everyone gives. I found two condos in our price range -Kona Riviera Villa on the Big Island and Kaha Lani #322 in Kauaii. Has anyone stayed at either? I%26#39;d appreciate your comments.
I%26#39;m looking for activities for both islands and reading through everyones recommendations. We are definitely going to see the Volancoes on the Big Island and take the tour. My husband doesn%26#39;t want to drive it . I haven%26#39;t rented cars for either island, is the entertainment book the way to go? I%26#39;ve never used priceline. Lanakalou
Hi Lanakalou,
My husband and I will be spending 8 days in Kauai in late April, and I have organized (split) our stay in the island to spend the first 4 days in the South (Poipo area) and the remaining 4 days in the North (Princeville area). We just want to minimize the driving around the island and devote more time to the real activities.
In the South Shore, I found a Studio Cottage (the Sugar Mills Cottages section) at Poipo Kai Resort for $123/night + tax, and made the reservation through Suite Paradise (http://suite-paradise.com). I liked this resort for all the amenities it offers, the price, and particularly the location - walking distance to two different beaches. You can check the cottages at this website:

In the North Shore we will be staying at the SeaLodge resort. We found a 1-bedroom condo via vrbo.com for $97/night + tax (very good price given the location), here is the web link:

I hope this information is useful to you to help you plan your trip. Have fun!
