Does anyone know if HNL airport has anyplace to store luggage for a few hours? I will be flying into HNL at 8:00am and departing at 2:15pm and would like to get into the city without carting around my carry-on bag.
Airport lockers?
sorry I believe the lockers are gone since 911
Airport lockers?
Thanks for the response. I guess I%26#39;ll have to pack as light as I can. I have 5-6 hours to get into from the airport to Waikiki and back. I mainly wanted to do a little shopping at the International Marketplace.
Any recommendation on airport transfers? I%26#39;ve read some of the other posts and I think I might try taking the shuttle to Waikiki and cabbing it back. What is the closest hotel to the marketplace? And, are cabs readily available to get back to the airport?
Thanks again for any help. This is a very last minute trip!
Cabs are very easy to get. Have a phone # with you on the off chance you don%26#39;t see one ... however, cab to airport is 2-3 times more expensive than a van ride/shuttle.
I have used Ilima Tours because Ala Moana Hotel uses them, whether they are the best I can%26#39;t say, but they charge about $10 to get into Waikiki and $8 to get back to airport. (try search or online yellow pages to get their number if interested).
If you do take a cab, try to pre-negotiate the fare in case you get stuck in traffic.
If you take a company like Ilima, rides are by reservation and they pick up at specific hotels, doubtless have a stop close to the IM.
Re the lockers -- yes, after 9/11 lockers were deemed a security threat and are pau. I sympathize with your wish not to cart your carryon around, is it possible to check your carryon for your last leg and only carry a personal bag? For one thing, stores are not too thrilled when people bring bags into them to shop and some will not allow it. Stores in general, not sure about the IM.
We always cab it..shuttles stop at every hotel on the way in...and time is what you need for a short visit.
cabs are available everywhere..closest hotel to the marketplace..hmmmm you could pull down a Waikiki map and have a look right here on this forum..to your left and double click on Waikiki hotels...
Remember that the International marketplace is on Kalakaua (sp)
Have Fun!!!
The International Marketplace is within the QEF/WDC ';superblock'; in central Waikiki.
Four hotels abut the marketplace: Waikiki Beachcomber, Princess Kaiulani, Waikiki Miramar and Waikiki Wave (nee Coral Reef). The Ohana East is also within the block, though it does not touch the Marketplace property.
Directly across Kalakaua Ave along the beachfront is the Outrigger Waikiki, with a signalized crosswalk, connecting the two. The Moana/Surfrider is adjacent to the Outrigger and also only a few steps away from the market.
that%26#39;s true, a cab both ways will surely be faster, and you have so little time. I hope you%26#39;re going to be checked in for your ongoing flight before you leave the airport.
Re the shuttle I mentioned -- Ilima doesn%26#39;t stop at all the hotels. Because it%26#39;s by reservation only it stops for the passengers on that shuttle, doesn%26#39;t cruise the hotels looking for people. Last time I took it I shared with one couple on the way from airport, and two couples on the way to airport.
but I do agree with flipper that cabs are best when time is of the essence. The shuttle wait was a little long at the airport because they were servicing passengers from two terminals.
