Taro Patch Hale

Hi, we are looking at this cottage for our stay in May..We are looking for any feedback or experinces with this property. Specific questions we have are:

Location-does the property have a nice rural feel as well as pretty good views? Is it a forested area or more open?

Looks like there is a nice lanai...is it a nice place to sit out in the evening after a busy day...is there a grill for cooking out?

Is there any seeting in the cottage except for the bed?

Climate wise, is there fairly good breezes through the cottage as well as plenty of windows?

Website states the bathroom is in a outdoor garden setting..is the entire bathroom outside or just the shower?

We dont need anything fancy, simple is great, but like a quite, peacfull, ';outdoor'; feeling place to come home to.

Thanks for any input...Ed

Taro Patch Hale

We spent three nights at Taro Patch Hale last September. We were very happy there. It does have a very rural feel. It%26#39;s located a couple of miles up the Hanalei valley and there really isn%26#39;t much up there. it%26#39;s situated within the national Wildlife Sanctuary. The property---two cottages, a main house, several small out buildings--is in a nicely landscaped cleared space within a forested area. The photos on the website give a pretty accurate picture.

We spent a lot of time sitting out on the lanai. Saw a lot of birds and a lot of rainbows. The Hanalei River runs through the yard, although it%26#39;s still just a stream up there. I don%26#39;t think there was a grill. We never cooked. Just a coffee maker and a microwave as I remember. A small fridge. We had breakfasts there and other meals out.

There were a couple of chairs in the cottage. I remember it being pretty airy and there was a ceiling fan. The entire bathroom is outside in an enclosed area---sink, toilet, shower. Some mosquitoes, but nothing larger.

It is pretty basic. It%26#39;d be kind of rough for some folks, but it was just what we were looking for. We really had a sense of being in old Hawaii. We%26#39;ll stay there again.

Just saw your other post. We stayed in Hale Lii. Didn%26#39;t get a close up look at the other cottage, but imagine they%26#39;re pretty similar. They%26#39;re clean and well-maintained. They%26#39;re all within sight and shouting distance, but there%26#39;s definitely a feeling of privacy.

Thanks for the input Bellman3....

Do you remeber which cottage you stayed in...the Nui or Li%26#39;i...

Also, it will be myself and my Nephew traveling...was there enough room in the cottage for a twin size air bed...we would like to have 2 beds for sleeping...

I sounds like a fun place to stay...pretty much what we are looking for...thanks Ed

My wife helped me to remember that Li%26#39;i didn%26#39;t have a microwave. It had a little toaster oven. I noticed on the website that Li%26#39;i has been remodeled and has 100 sq ft of living space added. I can%26#39;t envision what they may have done. When we stayed there everything was a pretty snug fit. You might have been able to rearrange things a bit to fit a mattress on the floor, but I%26#39;m not sure. Might be more easily done if they%26#39;ve expanded the cottage. I%26#39;d suggest giving Lance a call if that%26#39;s a critical point.
