Fairfield Waikiki Beach Walk

Has anyone stayed here yet? Can you tell me anything about the place. We are going there for our honeymoon in August and we%26#39;re staying on the 11th floor - we%26#39;d like to know if its nice :)

Thanks!

Fairfield Waikiki Beach Walk

Hi there, just got back on Friday. I spent almost a week there. Pluses and minuses:

Pluses: The location is pretty central to fun things to do. THe beach was a 5-min walk, there are abc stores aplenty so if you forgot to pack something no worries. The busline is two blocks up to take you to Diamondhead, Hanauma, etc.The Outrigger Reef and Halekulani hotels are also less than 5 min walk away (excellent restaurants there, try The Shorebird for a delicious, al fresco lunch and great cocktails, the House without a Key at sunset for beautiful Hawaiian music and Hula with good cocktails, and Orchids for a nice dinner). The units have nice, contemporary, relaxed, island furnishings. We were in room 628 which was laid out nicely. It felt very spacious as there was a full kitchen, comfortable king size bed, and both tvs were flat screens, full stereo and dvd player. It was an end unit which had two balconies, which brings me to the minuses....

MINUS: THE CONSTRUCTION NOISE. It is truly horrendous. They started working at 6 AM EVERY DAY! And I mean every day. If you are looking for an active vacation where you get up that early and get out the door then it won%26#39;t matter.

Generally I was looking for a mix of active and restful vacation time. The days I wanted to sleep in past 6 or 7 there was no way.

Fairfield/Wyndham was accommodating when we requested a room change, but the room they showed us, though marginally quieter, was laid out to make it feel cramped, and the view from the living room was literally the next door parking structure.

We decided to stay in unit 628. It felt more inviting and the view from the living room was of the beachwalk (source of construction) where musicians would set up in the evenings and play caribbean steel drums, or sing Hawaiian songs, which was pleasant.

We asked a concierge about how long they expected the construction to last, and they said it would honestly not be completely done for about a year.

Some of the shops on street level were done (we especially liked Beard Papas, makers of yummy cream puffs). On the same block they were putting in a Roy%26#39;s, PF Changs, and RUth%26#39;s CHris steak house as well as smaller boutique stores.

Bottom line, I would stay here again, but only when the construction is totally done. A year from now, sign me up! If you stay in the next few months I would suggest staying at an Outrigger hotel (if you have the fairfield time share you can stay there instead I think, but ask them about it).
