Help 1st Time!

So here%26#39;s the deal. I%26#39;m planning a suprise birthday present for my girl with a trip to Maui. Her BDay is the 8th of Feb. We arrive the day before around 4pm. I haven%26#39;t booked my hotel yet. I had to do this last minute to ensure the surprise and work schedules blah, blah, blah. Should I book my room asap with the GW or wait for a better rate the closer (cutting it thin as it is, I know) I get? Is there a GW alternative. We are both really active, enjoy surfing, snorkeling, hiking. She digs the Yoga. But I also want the pampering. I think I%26#39;ve read TOO many reviews because every place I%26#39;ve looked has it%26#39;s plusses and minuses. I just want it to be spectacular and I don%26#39;t want to leave feeling as though I%26#39;ve been abused financially. Any and all suggestions would be most welcome!

Buddy, you already are cutting it close. Book your room ASAP, I doubt you will get a better rate by waiting 4 days or so. I don%26#39;t know about rates at the GW, but I hear it%26#39;s over-run by kids. Maybe the Kea Lani?

I%26#39;d book asap. Good luck.

Boy are you brave. Have you even checked for availability at GW? When I do a search on Expedia, I get ';no rooms available';, I searched Feb. 7 for a week. If I were you, I%26#39;d get cracking, now. I%26#39;ve stayed at the Kea Lani and it is quite nice, but honestly we didn%26#39;t get too much ';pampering'; when we were there. For pampering, I think the Four Seasons is the ticket, although you may be feeling financially abused if you stay there, (I don%26#39;t have first hand knowledge of Four Seasons, just read all the raves.). Have you tried Hotwire or Priceline for ';last minute'; deals? Good luck and report back. Can%26#39;t wait to hear what you decide.

Good luck! February is only the most popular month for mainland snowbirds. Many places are booked a year in advance for this month. Book whatever you can find...NOW!

Whew, So I just checked again and I saved 100 per night. WooHoo...lucky, lucky, lucky, eh? Thanks again, y%26#39;all. I%26#39;m excited to check this place out. I hope she enjoys it. Any tips on when would be best to drive out to 7 Pools? Weekday vs. Weekend. I hear there%26#39;s construction due to the earthquake going on? Any tips to make it a great trip? Mama%26#39;s Fish House?

So you were able to get the GW? If so, congrats. Your girlfriend might enjoy a spa experience at GW, I%26#39;ve read that their spa is wonderful. Dinner at Nicks Fishmarket at the Kea Lani is pretty good and romantic. Definately go into Lahania to check out the night scene. If you are into dinner entertainment, check out the Old Lahania Luau (they have a website). I%26#39;ve not been, but many folks on this board really enjoy it. Another nighttime activity might be the Warren and Annabelle show. It%26#39;s a magic show (stay with me here). We really enjoyed it and even though it might appear to be geared toward a more mature crowd, some of the younger posters here have also enjoyed it. It books up fast, so I%26#39;m not sure you can get ressies for Feb, but they too have a website to check out. We enjoyed taking a snorkeling trip with Trilogy and we really enjoyed the zipline. Good luck with your excursion planning. Glad you got your hotel room squared away.

sometimes booking at the last minute can be a good thing and a great way to save money. I think you will really enjoy Wailea. It%26#39;s gorgeous. Enjoy.
