Anyone stay here? We are thinking of booking it sometime in February - March. Any comments/tips appreciated!
Huelo Point Lookout Star Cottage
Not familiar with the property, but we did stay at the Huelo Point Flower Farm (www. mauiflowerfarm.com). It was beautiful, but totally in the middle of nowhere. We travelled down a long road off the Hana Highway. If the property you are thinking about is similar, you will have peace and quiet and seclusion.
Huelo Point Lookout Star Cottage
We actually stayed in that speciffic cottage several years ago and had a wonderful time. They have 4 or 5 different private cottages of varying sizes. It is the perfect place for a nice romantic quiet getaway from all the crowds on the other side of the island. The open air private jacuzzi under the stars is about as good as it gets. The cottage shower is also located outside. We brought resh fish in Paia several times and grilled on BBQs they have. Each morning, they bring you a nice basket of fresh tropical fruits picked right off the property.
Huelo Point is about 15 minutes from Paia on the road to Hana and you will have to go down a rough dirt road to get there (we got a flat tire one day from it so be careful with the ride down). Don%26#39;t expect a great ocean view -- the property itself is not really that close to the coast/beach and there is actually someone elses private property between Huelo Point and the ocean.
If you do decide to stay, don%26#39;t do what we did and book several days afterwards at a busy resort on the other side (we did at the Westin Kaanalapali Villas afterwards which was a big mistake). You want your stay at Huelo to be the last and most memorable part of the trip.
I posted several related messages in the past up here so you can do a search for them on the Maui forums.
