Neighborhood description please

We are considering a rental that is in a neighborhood about 15 miles due East of KOA airport. I believe it%26#39;s called ';Kona Heavens';. It is described as at 1,000 foot elevation.

Can anyone tell me about this area......lava, green, trees, noise?

How about air traffic from the airport...will it be a nuisance? Mahalo for any and all.

Neighborhood description please

It%26#39;s a residential area of $800K+ homes. Make sure the home you plan to rent is not on and far away from Hina Lani Street since it%26#39;s a major thoroughfare between the lower and upper highway. All the truck traffic to and from the new industrial industrial area use this road. Kona Heavens is far enough from the airport for the airport noise to be a factor.

Neighborhood description please

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get a better answer than mine, as I don%26#39;t know the subdivision, but I know where it is. Location to roads is excellent for an upper Kona stay, as you can drop down to Costco and Queen K highway (to go north), you can take the Belt or Upper Hwy (Mamalahoa) north and the old Mamalahoa south (to circumvent Kailua-Kona if you head south), and you can drop down Palani to central Kailua-Kona.

This is not a bare lava area, upper Kailua-Kona is pretty lush, flowers, green, etc..

But as to the specific neighborhood I can%26#39;t say whether it is nice and quiet or whether it has barking dogs, roosters, boomboxes, racing car engines, etc.. Others will know better who live that side.

Those who want nothing but the beach will not recommend staying at that elevation, but I like it because it%26#39;s cooler and away from the traffic of downtown and Alii Drive.

The air traffic should be farther north. The planes will not be flying over the slopes of Hualalai mountain; they come in from the ocean and depart to sea as well. Whether you can hear the planes I can%26#39;t say.

see, you already got better advice while I was typing ... ;-)

bring a jacket... it gets pretty cool up there and at 1500 ft it rains almost daily... it is in a Banana forest as I call it with lots of flowers and trees.... the roads are VERY steep here and it is a long way to get to anywhere. Its about 7 miles I recall form the airport and the views are pretty outstanding

What a great asset it is to have ';boots on the ground';, so to speak.

Thank you all very much for your comments to this and a million other redundant questions you folks make time to answer. We are truly blessed to have you guys on the forum. Mahalo, Harry
