New Resort on Kaanapali Beach

The construction project is called Honua Kai. It%26#39;s a massive new condominium resort being constructed by Intrawest out of Canada. It will have about 700 condos and another 75 townhomes. The first building of condos out of two will be done late 2008, and the second late 2009 or early 2010. It will be spectacular, and yes, they will have a beachfront Duke%26#39;s restaurant on the property. Check out more at HonuaKai.com

By looking at the website I can%26#39;t really figure out where the resort is. When we stayed at the Kaanapali Shores in November we noticed a massive construction site brewing on the corner of the main highway and Lower Honoapiilani Rd. Is this it?

Yes, It%26#39;s sandwiched between the Westin Ocean Villas and The Mahana.

Club Intrawests are usually really nice. I%26#39;ve only stayed at the one in Whistler but it was nice.

Looks nice. Hope the rich people that get them enjoy them.

How far from the Mahana? What is the noise level? Does it intrfere with the view to the South from the Mahana? I wouldn%26#39;t want to be on the lanai and only hear construction instead of the waves!

Wonderful! More congestion in West Maui! Will there be an on-site helipad to get guests and workers in and out? LOL

We stayed at the Mahana and weren%26#39;t bothered by the construction at all. It will be nice to have a restaurant right next door, although it was nice to have a peaceful beach there, too.

Aside from Kaanapali Beach, I don%26#39;t think West Maui is congested. Sure there are lots of resorts and condos along the beach, but it was easy to get around. Now Honolulu/Waikiki is congested!

I don%26#39;t think west Maui is congested either. Many times up around the Kapalua area we%26#39;re the only car on the road!
