Quite Part of Waikiki?

We have been reading the forums and researching all the hotel reviews and I know I read it somewhere, but can%26#39;t find it again. Is there a particular area that hotels near/on Waikiki beach are subject to less noise from construction/traffic/etc? Also is there one part of the Beach that is ';better'; than the other that has a bearing on which hotel to stay in. We%26#39;ll be there for 2 days in early March prior to sailing on the Pride of Hawaii.

Quite Part of Waikiki?

Hi. We haven%26#39;t actually been to Waikiki yet but we were looking for somewhere reasonably quiet too. We have booked the Hawaii Prince but the other suggested hotel would be the New Otani Kaimana at totally the other end of Waikiki. I think the Otani is the quieter but it depends how far out of the action you want to be. Why don%26#39;t you try doing a search on this forum for both hotels and see what you find.

Quite Part of Waikiki?

Look on the Diamond Head side, along Kapahulu Avenue. Hotels along one side of the street, the zoo on the other. I found this area to be much quieter than staying near the Marketplace or the west side of Waikiki (just my humble opinion, of course).

If you get a room on an upper floor, that will also somewhat lessen the street noise.

TexasRail,

Do a search of the hotels and their ratings- of course higher star hotels will also generally be more quite as far as their rooms are concerned.

The Hawaii Prince that someone mentioned is at the ';front'; of Waikiki and is fairly close to a portion of Ala Moana park called Magic Island which is usually not as crowded as Waikiki beach itself.

Personally I would rather go to someplace like www.turtlebayresort.com which is a bit away from Waikiki but so much more relaxing. I believe their rates are fairly reasonable (250-350?) as well. If not you could go to Ko Olina resort is on the other side of the island- do a Google search for their site and check out how beautiful it is...in person it%26#39;s even nicer. Of course you%26#39;ll wind up paying around 350-550 a night depending on season.

And in case you%26#39;re on a budget I recommend the Pagoda Hotel. It is NOT by the beach but is fairly close (5-10 min to Ala Moana Beach) has nice large (but plain) rooms and is quite reasonable (150ish).

Hope that helps you
