Shipping artwork back home.....

Silly question:

Have you ever bought any framed artwork over in Hawaii and had it shipped back home? Is it ridiculously expensive due to the shipping costs? I know alot of ebay sellers don%26#39;t ship off the mainland for that reason.

We like to buy artwork as a vacation perk and want to get a framed piece for a den/office wall back home.

If you can get the gallery to pack it for you and get to a post office the rates will be the same as POs on the Mainland. FedEx, UPS, etc. are very very expensive.

I have had the galleries do that often and it is not to bad. Maybe $25-30. A small piece you could carry on the plane, but anything bigger is better to ship.

We had a piece shipped back a couple years ago. I can%26#39;t remember the exact cost, so it must not have been too bad (believe me, I%26#39;d remember if it was!).

I believe that the galleries all offer that service--most people would rather have it shipped than carry-on or trust the baggage handlers at the airports.

you could get it framed at home after having the gallery ship it rolled up. But yes, galleries do shipping, if you can find a couple island gallery websites they might quote the shipping charges so you can know what you%26#39;re looking at.
