thanks so much
Best seafood dinner in waikiki, no dress code?
Duke%26#39;s Canoe Club on the bottom floor of your hotel. We loved it. You won%26#39;t need a jacket or tie very many places, if any. We went dressed pretty much like you describe. Sandals too of course.
I%26#39;m sure there%26#39;s others but this was one we enjoyed.

Just want to point out that most ';dress up'; restaurants in Hawaii has a different definition of dress up. Usually an aloha shirt for a guy and sun dress for a woman is the definition of dress up. I think La Mer at Halekulani is the dressiest, which requires long sleeves collar shirt or a jacket, but I do not remember any others requiring jackets.
Check out the Oceanarium restaurant in the Pacific Beach Hotel. They have a wonderful king crab and prime rib buffet.
I was apprehensive at first, thinking about a %26#39;crab and steak%26#39; buffet from down south transplanted in Hawaii, but boy was I mistaken!
The buffet is great, to say the least. Large selection of seafood, two chefs cooking seafood pasta made to order, as well as about 12 different deserts and a chocolate fondu machine with fresh fruit. Nothing sits around and the buffet is constantly being restocked and maintained.
The waitstaff there is also efficient and friendly, whenever we got up to get more, our table was bussed clean before we returned.

BTW, if you decide to check it out, make a reservation for a table next to the aquarium!
I went to a very good dinner at Nick%26#39;s Fishmarket when we were there last december. The food was great, our server wasn%26#39;t the best, but it didn%26#39;t really matter. My bf wore a short-sleved dress shirt and kahkis and was not out of place, and I had a skirt and tanktop on. It was nice to go to a fancier place for a good dinner, and the prices were not totally unreasonable.
We also visited Dukes, which we thought was good but not great. I found that it was better for a casual lunch on the beach than for a nice dinner.
Good luck with your serach!
good to know about the dress code, sounds like we will be ok most places.. im already excited about the sugestions.. iv ate at dukes before and think there food is good, drinks are great but not quite the seafood selection i was looking for.. iv heard good things about oceanarium , please any other sugestions would be greatly appriciated
thanks
Second vote for Nicks Fishmarket. Great food relaxed dress code for such upscale food. Price is a little expensive but well worth it. Last time I was there they had a sampler type course which was just awesome. Also Ocenariums or Shogun at the Pacific Beach Hotel have good buffets. I personally prefer Ocenarium esp. if you want prime rib but if sushi is your fare then Shogun is it.
Best seafood buffet on Oahu is Makino Chaya.
There is one on King St. %26amp; one in Aloha Tower Marketplace.
