Coming in for a honeymoon in late May early June. We have decided to stay in Maui for part of our trip. Should we spend the rest in BI or in Oahu? If BI, then what parts and how long? In Oahu, the best area for this time of year?
Big Island or Oahu??
Depends on what you want to do...I love both islands!
Oahu---Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, the North Shore, great driving around the island, snorkeling at Haunauma Bay, climbing Diamond Head, shopping, beaches, busy....but fun....
BI---you can%26#39;t beat Volcano National Park for jaw dropping scenery...the island is building itself day by day! The BI is an adventure---gorgeous lush valleys, volcanos, pretty beaches, lava fields, slower pace...
You can%26#39;t go wrong with either choice...
Big Island or Oahu??
Oahu, Kauai and Maui are ';typically tropical'; whereas Big Island is totally different. Early Spring is a great time to go there, before it heats up in summer and fall. I%26#39;d choose Big Island if you have enough time to do it justice -- a week at least. It%26#39;s larger than all the others put together -- you%26#39;ll be driving a lot to see it. Best lodgings are all in a cluster at the NW corner. (But then the only really nice lodgings on Oahu are Honolulu/Waikiki too!)
