Hi, folks. Yet another question from me:
Last time we were on the BI we had some of the best fruit we%26#39;ve ever tasted at a local stand in South Kona. However, I read recently that it might be closed. Is this true? If so, do you have any other recommendations as to where to get local fruit, especially organic? The supermarkets seem to have bupkes...
Mahalo!
Fruit stand?
sorry I don%26#39;t know about South Kona, but there are lots of fruit stands. Just keep your eyes peeled. There are numerous farmer%26#39;s markets and every natural foods store has organic fruit. I don%26#39;t see any difficulty in finding what you want.
Fruit stand?
Aloha Danator,
Any more clues as to where in So. Kona, the road name or maybe a land mark?
Would this be it?
South Kona Fruit Stand near the old Higashi store, 84-4770 Mamalahoa Hwy. in Captain Cook. Info: 328-8547?
There are many farmers markets, 3 in Kona, one in Keauhou. I will list them below for you.
I like a farm stand near the Painted Church in Captain Cook, by Napoopoo Road.
There an open air market j on Alii Drive called Alii Gardens (wed-sun), . There is another farmers market down town (thrs.-sun), this one can be busy if you see the cruise ship in
The Kona International Market (tues.-sun; some booths open 7 days)
Keauhou Farmer%26#39;s Market Every Saturday, from 8:00AM to noon at Keauhou Shopping Center
Kona Pacific Farmers%26#39; Coop Fridays, 8am-4pm. Napoopoo Rd
That%26#39;s probably the same little fruit stand we%26#39;ve stopped at our last couple trips. Is it right on the highway just down from Captain Cook, driveway on the mountain side? If so, it was still there in May but did have a for sale sign up. They are all organic growing their own fruits. They also had sandwiches that are all organic.
We bought fruit at the Ali%26#39;i Gardens flea market. There was a nice older couple that was selling all kinds of stuff.
