Hi,
My wife and I will be arriving to Kona International Airport at quite a late hour of the night and we are looking for a decent Motel reasonably priced at a close proximity of the airport.
All we really need is a place to put our heads down for the night, so we can wake up fresh in the morning and start our day. There is no need for any animities or ';touristy'; facilities, such as a beach, pool, spa, view or anything; just a place to sleep.
Are there any such motels near the airport we can stay, like a Motel 6 or similar?
Looking for Motel Near Kona Airport
There is nothing available in the immediate vicinity of the airport...
The closest accomodations are in central Kailua-Kona eight to ten miles south of the airport.
In order of probable price (least to highest) are:

Looking for Motel Near Kona Airport
as amberloo said, the short answer is ';no'; and those are your choices in Kailua-Kona. (not THAT far from the airport)
To try to explain why it%26#39;s like that here:
the KOA airport is in the middle of lava fields. It%26#39;s not in a town. The nature of this island, being so volcanic, it costs millions of dollars to develop land here that has no infrastructure. It would not be feasible to just build motels adjacent to the airport..
In Honolulu, you can find the standard near airport place to sleep, but not here.
I must warn you that the cheapest places to stay in town are dives that are frequented by transients and those of us residents who can%26#39;t afford much and are used to the island mold and the bugs. You don%26#39;t want ';touristy'; but you probably want ';clean'; and reasonably maintained and the cheapest places are not.
Unfortunate that you nailed down your flight before checking into the lodgings. I would suggest that you go ahead and spend your first night in whatever hotel you plan to vacation ... except there%26#39;s probably some reason why not, such as your rental is a condo, or you%26#39;re continuing on to another part of the island.
If you let us know what your whole trip plan is, we like to help people in this forum and I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get good suggestions. It is really no big deal to get from the airport into town, but as you will be tired, the thing to do is study the roads and the layout, which is not difficult, so that you won%26#39;t be disoriented when you land as you will find the road to town is extremely dark (no streetlights, no ambient light), Doing your homework will make the transition a lot easier.
Aloha,
The advice you have been already given is solid, I would add the following:
Please do not stay at Uncle Billy%26#39;s. If you check out Trip Advisors reports you will understand why

King Kam is okay, tired and sometimes noisy.
Royal Kona Resort is your best option. Expedia and Co. all offer specials with the hotel. When you check in ask for a complimentary upgrade to a remodeled room, they often will do this if one is open.
Have a great trip!
I spent several nights at the Royal Kona earlier this year and was very happy with a north side/ocean view (beautiful) room in the recently refurbished Alii Tower. Unless lowest price is a priority, stay away from the Bay Tower; although it also has great views, the rooms haven%26#39;t yet been updated and the noise from nearby Huggo%26#39;s can be obtrusive.
An added bonus of Royal Kona is the ocean-front Don the Beachcomber Restaurant; a wonderful place for breakfast (or Dinner).
